In a surprising turn of events, Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk returns to the Team Spirit Dota 2 roster alongside other previously inactive players in time for the 2025 season.
Well-known in the Dota 2 sphere for its prior triumphs, Team Spirit has a number of accolades and famous players to its name. The Russian-Serbian team regularly sweeps regional and international tournaments and was even featured in a popular documentary. After an unexpected roster shake-up in September, it’s ending the latest offseason period by returning to its roots.
Welcoming back old team members for a new season, here is the new and current Team Spirit Dota 2 roster for 2025.
Either from vacation or breaks, three former Team Spirit members are coming back for the 2025 season.
With transfer season drawing to a close, Team Spirit has finalized its Dota 2 roster just before the new competitive season begins. Much of the line-up remains the same as it was this time last year, though not the same as it was just a few weeks ago. The current active team members on the Dota 2 roster are:
After The International 2024, Collapse, Silent, and Yatoro all decided to take breaks individually. The trio had been competing for Team Spirit from varying points beginning in 2020, with The International 2021 and 2023 titles most notably notched on their belts. Both Collapse and Silent stated that they would be back by the beginning of 2025. In an addendum to their return announcement, manager Dmitrii Belov added that both were routinely going to the gym more in a question to maintain better health this time around.
In his departure, Yatoro originally announced he was taking a break from professional Dota 2 via his Telegram account. He cited that although a return to the team was likely inevitable, he needed a braek to regain “the fire in [his] eyes” and rid himself of any negativity. In the meantime, he has been streaming Dota 2 content on Twitch and honing his skills for a big comeback. Fans and team executives alike weren’t sure until now when Yatoro would be back in the professional game.
With the return of Yatoro also comes the benching of one of Team Spirit’s newer Dota 2 members, carry player Satanic.
In the official statement on X, Belov explained the call to replace Satanic with Yatoro. Yatoro’s return was a surprise to all, and the team decided to bench one player in exchange for a Spirit legend. Belov lamented that Satanic was not given the chance to fully prove himself, and added that he believes crowds will one day cheer Satanic’s name.
Despite only being 17 years old, Satanic has already been making a name for himself in the Dota 2 sphere. He is one of the youngest players to hit 13,000 MMR in open ranked play. After carrying with Yellow Submarine, Satanic originally joined Team Spirit in September 2024 to replace Yatoro in the organization’s Dota 2 roster. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and Satanic seems to be benched for the foreseeable future.
FISSURE PLAYGROUND Belgrade 2025 in late January marks the first major Dota 2 tournament of the year as well as the start of the 2025 competitive season. Team Spirit fans eagerly await the event to see if these roster changes make all the difference.
