Team Liquid faces LYON as their first true test arrives at the end of the LCS Spring Split regular season. So far, TLAW has been undefeated, but they’ve yet to face the two best American teams in LYON and Cloud9. Will Team Liquid finally claim a spot at the top of the LCS, or will they remain mere scrim gods?
Betting tip: Liquid may be undefeated, but so would LYON if they hadn’t gone up against C9 yet. LYON has taken down every other opponent without ever really looking threatened. The LCS Lock-in champion is a good bet once again.

Long hailed as scrim gods without ever translating those results to stage games, TLAW has finally evolved into an actual powerhouse. Now sitting at 5-0, the final question remains. Is Team Liquid a contender for the title, or will they crumble once they face the two best teams in the LCS?
One big difference for TLAW over the previous split is that their head coach Jake “Spawn” Tiberi has now rejoined them. Coaching remotely from Australia for the beginning of the year, he’s now once again physically with them, drafting included.
This isn’t the only improvement for Liquid, though. The team is evolving into a well-rounded group of threats. Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in remains the smart and proactive support he’s always been, and Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung is fitting into the roster. Additionally, Park “Morgan” Ru-han has become one of the best laners in NA, and Brandon “Josedeodo” Joel Villegas has turned into a monster in the past weeks.
With that being said, while TLAW looks like they can crush any team, they’ve also shown weaknesses against them all. And LYON isn’t the sort of team to let that slide. The First Stand representative can catch advantages anywhere, and they know how to play around them.
While they’ve been in the shadow of their expectations, LYON has beaten every team besides C9 handily. That one loss was a close match, too. All in all, TLAW’s road to their current standing has been shakier than LYON’s has been.

TLAW have advantages in the top lane and possibly mid too. Josedeodo can try to press there and translate that lead into the jungle too. However, Kacper “Inspired” Słoma should be able to anticipate that and to give him no room to play. Through him, LYON should overtake TLAW’s game plan.
