After losing in week 6 of the LCS Spring Split, Team Liquid rematches LYON during the first round of the LCS Spring Playoffs. Both teams were in a deadlock for top two, one clear step below Cloud9 and theoretically another one above FlyQuest. Last split, LYON was vastly stronger in the playoffs than they were during the Swiss stage, will that be the case once more?
Betting tip: TLAW is a team of unrealised promises. Always hailed as the scrim gods, they still can’t drive it past the finish line on stage against the best teams. Which LYON classifies as.

During the Spring Split, TLAW finally started translating their potential into actual results. Up 5-0 at the end of week 5, doing great in the Esports World Cup Qualifier, things were looking up at last. However, they were simply not up to the task once they went against LYON and Cloud9. With their streak broken, they once again leave C9 and LYON alone in the perceived top two.
As for their opponent, a great deal of mystery goes behind their six-man roster. A month ago, LYON recruited Cho “Castle” Hyeon-seong to share the top lane spot with Niship “Dhokla” Doshi. Since then, they’ve fielded the two during both of their series.
So far, the results haven’t been impressive. Supposedly, Castle is a better laner with an edge when it comes to mechanics, while Dhokla brings more to the comms and team atmosphere. However, LYON has yet to pick up a win with their new recruit, going 0-3 with him and 3-0 with Dhokla.
In fact, it was the latter who went toe-to-toe against Park “Morgan” Ru-han, despite him being one of the better top laners in NA. With a bit more time to play together, there’s a chance that LYON can make better use of their substitute in Bo5s.
Them aside, jungle will once again be the point of focus in this match-up. With Kacper “Inspired” Słoma and Brandon “Josedeodo” Joel Villegas both being candidates for MVP of the split, they will be the driving factor in this series.
So far, this head-to-head has gone Inspired’s way. However, there’s now one new question for them. FlyQuest destroyed both of them with jungle Nasus, will either of them follow suit on this pick?

With a stylistic advantage, a recent precedent, and better Bo5s, LYON should win this series. TLAW has ways to surprise, particularly thanks to their solo lanes, but jungle and bot lane strongly favor their opponents.
