Swiss esports organization Team BDS, known for its success in Rocket League and competing in several notable esports leagues, including the LEC, will rebrand to Shifters ahead of the 2026 season. The Swiss organization will have new colors and a new logo, and is relocating within Geneva. The logo is being finalized and will be revealed soon, reports Sophie Marenne from the magazine PME. The rebrand was initially announced this summer, together with a new CEO for the organization.
Founded in 2019 in Switzerland, Team BDS is mostly known for fielding a very successful Rocket League roster for its entire existence. Team BDS won the 2022 and 2024 World Championships in Rocket League as well as the 2024 Esports World Cup, making the Swiss brand one of the most-decorated in Rocket League esports. BDS also won three RL Majors in 2020 and 2021.
In Rainbow 6 Siege, the team also won the 2024 EWC and 2023 Gamers8. BDS made about 6 million dollars in tournament prizes. About 60% of that comes from Rainbow 6, and 40% from Rocket League. Team BDS, however, allowed its Rainbow Six team the ability to explore other options early in 2025, just a short time after the team secured second place at the 2025 Six Invitational. The current BDS roster in Rainbow Six is still finding its footing and competing in the MENA League.
Team BDS entered League of Legends with a team in May 2020. The team played in the LFL for a year and a half, then took over FC Schalke 04 Esports’ team in the LEC for the 2022 season.
BDS’s tenure in the LEC has been a mixed bag. The team is either a contender for first place, or rock bottom – middle spots aren’t their thing. Here are their results in tier 1:
| Tournament | Result |
|---|---|
| LEC 2025 Summer | 8th place (did not qualify for Worlds) |
| LEC 2025 Spring | 8th place |
| LEC 2025 Winter | 7th place |
| LEC 2024 Summer | 3rd place (4th at the Season Finals, did not qualify for Worlds) |
| LEC 2024 Spring | 3rd place |
| LEC 2024 Winter | 3rd place |
| Worlds 2023 | 15th-16th place |
| LEC 2023 Summer | 5th (4th at the Season Finals, qualified for Worlds) |
| LEC 2023 Spring | 2nd |
| LEC 2023 Winter | 7th |
| LEC 2022 Summer | 10th |
| LEC 2022 Spring | 9th |
In 2025, the team hasn’t been on their A game and has failed to replicate the successes they’ve found in 2023 and 2024. With roster changes and a new structure, only time can tell what 2026 will look like. When compared to the millions in prize money secured through Rocket League and Rainbow Six, League of Legends seems to be off. League of Legends tournaments netted Team BDS less than €150.000, though they benefit from the LEC’s revenue sharing.
The name BDS stands for the team’s founder, Patrice Bailo De Spoelberch. In November 2024, the board of directors removed Bailo De Spoelberch after he made hate speech comments on social media. The backlash from the French fans made the board remove him and cancel a Rocket League tournament they were organizing at the time. BDS’s position is relatively unique in esports; the organization distanced itself from the CEO (which is not something unique, sadly), but his initials still lingered in the name of the brand. So, to signify a move towards a new era, a new brand was needed.
The former BDS, will thus be rebranded to Shifters, perhaps marking their shift towards a new era without their former CEO. Alongside the name change will come a new logo, and its design will soon be revealed. The team will also likely say farewell to its pink and blue colors.
Shifters is also moving into new headquarters, still located in Geneva, Switzerland.
