During the 2025 season of VALORANT Champions Tour, T1 was, in the eyes of many, the best team in the world. They formed the Korean super team and won VALORANT Masters Bangkok. Following that win, the team went into a downward spiral. They failed to qualify for VALORANT Masters Toronto but secured a spot at VALORANT Champions Paris 2025. In that tournament, the team finished in 12th place, failing to qualify for the playoff stage of the tournament.
Going into the 2026 season, the team started off on the wrong foot, losing to Nongshim RedForce in their first match. Knocked in the middle bracket, they went on an incredible 3-match run defeating the likes of Gen G, DRX, and Paper Rex. In the next 2 games, they didn’t lose a single map, defeating RRQ and Detonation FocusMe with a scoreline of 3-0 and 2-0, respectively.

In our preview for VCT EMEA Kickoff 2026, we had put Team Liquid as the underdogs to watch out for. While their start in VCT EMEA Kickoff 2026 wasn’t ideal, it was the lower bracket run that shocked everyone in the ecosystem. After losing to FNATIC 2-0, Team Liquid went on a 4-match winning streak. In this run, they defeated some of the favourites in the tournament: Team Heretics and Team Vitality. Two of these victories were secured after the team completed an incredible reverse sweep vs ULF Esports and Team Vitality.
In the lower bracket finals, they got their chance at revenge against FNATIC. In this game, they shut down FNATIC and crushed their dreams of qualification, defeating them 3-0. This clean sweep wasn’t expected by many fans in the VALORANT Esports Ecosystem. The IGL of Team Liquid, Ayaz “nAts” Akhmetshin, played his best match in the tournament, being the top fragger of his series. This victory helped Team Liquid secure qualification for VALORANT Masters Santiago as the third seed.

This will be the first time we will see these two juggernauts in esports facing off against each other. T1 has a lot more success when compared to Team Liquid in international VALORANT tournaments. In the VCT 2026 season, these two teams have been on quite different trajectories.
In our opinion, if Team Liquid can win the first map against T1, then Team Liquid will secure the victory in this series. If T1 does win the skirmish duel and get the map veto in their favour, then it will be really tough for Team Liquid to defeat T1. We have previously seen T1 prove why they are the mentality monsters and even complete a reverse sweep in international VALORANT tournaments. Our opinion is that Team Liquid will secure the win with a scoreline of 2-1
