With the 2025 LCK season already breaking viewership records, one of the split’s most anticipated upcoming matches approaches with T1 vs KT Rolster. T1 is understandably the favorite to win the match, but will KT Rolster have any upset potential as this storied rivalry is renewed.
With the LCK 2025 tournament’s rounds 1 and 2 currently ongoing, fans worldwide are tuning in to see their favorite Korean teams fight to win. The highlight of the tournament thus far was easily a match between T1 and Gen.G, which ended up breaking the record for the most-watched match in LCK regular season history.
While T1 failed to win against its rival Gen.G, the popular team will soon get a chance to redeem itself. This time, the squad facing T1 is rival KT Rolster. T1’s overwhelming presence and known skill in the pro scene ensures it’s the favorite to win, but that doesn’t necessarily mean KT Rolster will go down easily.
T1 may have struggled against Gen.G, but all signs point to the side’s next match being nothing but smooth sailing. The team has powerhouse players like Oner and Faker, both excellent potential carries in their own right. Gumayusi has also displayed excellent skill after taking over the ADC position for stand-in Smash, and T1’s members should only have to repeat what they’ve been doing to comfortably win here.
On the other hand, KT Rolster is in a tough spot. The team hasn’t won a single match in the current season, and although KT managed to win one game against Hanwha Life Esports, it didn’t feel like the match was ever really in doubt.
In particular, deokdam’s performance leaves much to be desired as the player hasn’t shown the required skills to be an adequate carry for a team in such a high level of play. Another anomaly is KT’s top-laner, PerfecT. While PerfecT may have played well when he initially joined the team, his lack of improvement and more passive gameplay may ultimately feed T1’s Doran, giving him the potential to solo carry the game for T1.
Below are the rosters for both teams in the upcoming match:
T1:
KT Rolster
Even if the two teams won’t pick the same champions more than once in the same match thanks to the fearless draft system, there are a handful of champions we can safely assume to see. In T1’s case, those champions include Rumble, Jayce, Xin Zhao, Viktor, Kaisa, and Poppy.
When it comes to KT Rolster, the team has continued to switch things around, likely because nothing has really worked too well recently. The most common pick is PerfecT’s Gwen, but it wouldn’t be strange to see the stand-in for Casting switch things around to find a formula that works better. Or one that works at all.
KT Rolster and T1 have gone head-to-head on the big stage a total of 26 times. Out of that, T1 won 20 times while KT Rolster only won six times, giving T1 a whopping 77% win rate against its Telecom War rival.
The fact that T1 is considered one of the strongest League of Legends teams and KT Rolster hasn’t been at its peak recently ensures T1 is the favorite to win the upcoming match. T1’s line of 1.15 compared to KT’s 5.30 makes KT the definitive underdog.
T1 may be coming out of a loss against Gen.G, but it’s important to keep in mind that Gen.G is a powerhouse team in its own right. By contrast, while KT Rolster has seen some excellent splits in the past, the team has stagnated in terms of winning important matches of late and it wouldn’t be a surprise if the same thing happened here. As seen in its match against Dplus KIA, every member of KT struggled to defeat Siwoo’s Aatrox after he got a decent lead against PerfecT. Doran is a much more aggressive top-laner than Siwoo, suggesting things could be even more direr for KT this time if a top-lane deficit should emerge.
As for the rest of the lanes, T1’s bot-lane has recently been shining and playing spectacularly, especially compared to KT’s. Pair this with the fact that T1’s aggressive playing style makes the team more likely to get the first objectives on the map, and things may end quickly for KT.
