Gen.G is easily the favorite to win this LCK this season despite it still only being the first week, but does T1 have what it takes to finally defeat its rival in a complete series after losing multiple times to the 2025 EWC winner over the last three months?

This year’s competition following the 2025 LCK Cup has seen Gen.G go on an impressive winning streak against some of the world’s strongest teams. This won the team the 2025 Esports World Cup and this year’s Mid-Season Invitational. T1 has barely fallen short of defeating Gen.G multiple times, and the side will getting another shot in the first week of Round 3 of the 2025 LCK season.
Betting tip: T1 has taken every recent match played against Gen.G to the final game before ultimately losing, suggesting this match may at least go to the third and deciding game.
Every time it looks like T1 is finally in form to win a tournament this year, the team somehow throws a game badly enough to shatter those assumptions. The same happened in the final game against AG.AL in the 2025 Esports World Cup semifinals, where T1 got absolutely stomped, losing in drafting, laning, team fights, and objective acquisition.
Fortunately for the team, Gumayusi and Faker still show up in every match. Faker’s laning phase is still solid, while Gumayusi maximizes his CS while minimizing the unnecessary deaths to ensure the enemy doesn’t get a significant gold advantage, even if he does lose the bottom lane.
The other three players have left much to be desired. Keria, Oner, and Doran have all showcased excellent skills at times but have at other times proven unreliable. In particular, T1’s top laner Doran has a bad habit of opting to run it down top when things go awry, giving the enemy free kills and not accomplishing much in the process. T1 will have to shift its strategy if it wants to end this LCK split in a better position than it did in Round 2, but that may be tough when the team hasn’t gotten any time to refresh itself and its tactics.

Gen.G doesn’t need much introduction when it comes to the team’s recent accomplishments. After losing in the 2025 LCK Cup’s grand final, the team shifted its approach and started winning every tournament it plays in. Chovy and Canyon’s synergy is at the forefront of Gen.G’s wins, with Chovy’s laning skills being among the best out of any current professional League of Legends player. Kiin is much more reliable than Doran in the top lane, as his aggressive plays are more calculated and he knows when to back out to ensure the enemy doesn’t get an advantage.
The bottom lane will likely determine the match’s course. T1’s Gumayusi and Gen.G’s Ruler are both excellent ADCs with high carry potential, but their supports’ approaches differ. Keria has reached greater heights before with T1, and his flawless Alistar game in the match against AL at MSI was a recent example of his potential. Duro is more consistently excellent with Gen.G, as his initiations and team fight presence with champions like Renata Glasc and Bard can give his team a massive advantage as seen in the 2025 EWC grand final against AL. By contrast, Keria tends to overextend in the laning phase, forcing Gumayusi to risk his life for an unnecessary gamble. Unnecessary plays like that could be the difference here.

Gen.G and T1 have faced off 23 times before. Gen.G leads the series with 23 wins compared to 19 wins for T1.
T1’s recent match history is fairly shaky. While the team has seen success against solid teams like G2 and KOI, its losses to Gen.G and AL have held it back.
Gen.G’s recent matches have been filled with victories against strong teams like T1 and AL, and the squad shows no signs of slowing down.

T1 has the skills expected from a high-ranking professional League of Legends team. However, its occasional lack of proper tactics and drafting results in the team throwing otherwise winnable matches. This was showcased in the 2025 MSI’s upper bracket grand final against Gen.G, when Oner threw the final game for an unnecessary attempt at Atakhan. An even more recent example was in the 2025 EWC semifinal where Keria picked Rell despite not seeing much success of late with the champion.
T1’s early game is usually much better than Gen.G’s, but its players seemingly start going with the flow as soon as the first tower falls, opening themselves up to vulnerabilities. It wouldn’t be surprising if this match plays out similarly to the two instances in which these two teams faced off in the recent MSI event, with Gen.G winning through a dominating final game after a competitive series.
Our T1 vs Gen.G prediction: Gen.G as the match winner 2-1 1.55 odds at GG.BET.
