🧐 How does Stake.us’ sweepstakes poker game work?

The fundamental rules of Stake US Poker are simple – and they’re the same as those of any other poker game you might’ve played before. Basically, the game aims to build the best-ranking hand of five cards.

Now, I won’t bore you to tears with a full-blown beginner’s guide here, but the best possible hand you can create is what’s known as a “Straight Flush,” which just means having a sequence of five cards with the same suit. The worst is a “High Card,” which just means… well… having one high card, such as a King or Queen, for example. As I said earlier, Stake.us Poker is a two-for-one game, serving up Texas Hold’ Em and Omaha-style poker. Now, if you didn’t already know, these differ as follows:

Stake.us poker is not a real money game. Instead, at Stake.us, there are two different virtual currencies in use – Gold Coins (GC), which are played for fun only, and Stake Cash (SC), which has a real-world prize-redeemable value. For now, though, only GC can be played on Poker.

📋 Stake US Poker gameplay & How to play Stake Poker

To play social poker on Stake.us, start by creating an account. Once you’re signed in, you can join a table and compete for a chance to win.

The goal is to build the best five-card hand based on standard poker rankings. Before jumping in, here are the basic rules:

Basic poker rules

Each player is dealt two face-up cards, while the dealer gets two face-down. To keep playing, place a second amount of virtual currency that’s double your initial entry – or fold and give up your original entry. The dealer then reveals three face-up community cards. Players can then check or fold as more cards are dealt. After the final cards are revealed, the best hand wins.

1. Rapid Ring Games – After folding, you’re instantly moved to a new table to start a new hand. Seat positions and blinds rotate with each round.
2. Rapid Tournaments – These work like Fast Fold games. When you fold, you’re taken to another table to start the next hand. Seats and blinds shuffle each round.
3. Rabbit Hunting – This feature lets you see what the next cards would have ended early in a hand. It’s available during specific breaks in certain tournaments and comes at a cost deducted from your balance.
4. Rebuy – If you’re running low or out of chips during a tournament, this option lets you buy back in during a set time window, often called the rebuy period.
5. Straddle – A pre-deal raise that’s twice the big blind, only available to the player seated directly after the big blind. It’s allowed only on tables with at least four players.
6. Run It Twice – If activated, players who go all-in can agree to run two separate boards. Half the pot goes to the winner of each. If one hand wins both, that player takes everything.
7. Bomb Pot – This mode skips the pre-flop. All players post an ante, and the hand starts with the flop already on the table. The rest of the hand plays as normal.
8. Bounty – Some tournaments reward players for knocking out others. You might get a reward for eliminating any player, or a specific one, depending on the rules.
9. Shootout – Players are divided across tables and play until one player remains at each table. Those winners then move on to the next round with reset stacks and blinds. To win, you have to outlast every table you’re placed at. These tournaments don’t allow re-entry or late sign-ups.
10. Is Lucky One Hand – In this format, all players automatically go all-in each round. There’s no additional move—just the luck of the cards.

Stake Poker hand rankings

1. Royal Flush – Ace, king, queen, jack, and ten of the same suit. This is the strongest hand in the game.
2. Straight Flush – Five cards in a row, all of the same suit. If tied, the hand with the highest top card wins.
3. Four of a Kind – Four cards of the same value, plus one side card. If both players have four of a kind, the higher set wins. If tied, the kicker decides.
4. Full House – Three cards of one rank and two of another. If tied, the hand with the higher triple wins. If those match, the pair decides it.
5. Flush – Five cards of the same suit in any order. The highest card wins if there’s a tie.
6. Straight – Five cards in sequence, mixed suits. The highest card determines the strength of the straight.
7. Three of a Kind – Three cards of the same value plus two others. If there’s a tie, the highest set wins. If needed, the highest side cards are compared.
8. Two Pair – Two different pairs plus one other card. If needed, the highest pair wins ties, then the second pair, then the last card.
9. One Pair – One pair with three unrelated cards. If tied, the highest pair wins. If still tied, the remaining cards are used individually to settle it.
10. High Card – The highest card wins if no other hand is made. If needed, other cards are compared in order.
