Subaru Oozora is going on hiatus, and here’s why

Subaru Oozora hiatus

Hololive’s popular vtuber Subaru Oozora has surprised her fans by announcing that she is taking a hiatus from streaming, and now they want to know why she’s taking this break and when she’ll return.

Subaru Oozora is a popular female Japanese vtuber affiliated with the vtuber agency Hololive. The vtuber debuted alongside popular streamer Minato Aqua, who has since left the Hololive collective. Subaru has an impressive story as the vtuber was born with a hole in her heart, was hit by a car, and lost her house in a fire. Despite these tragedies, she went on to become a big name in the industry.

On January 18, Subaru Oozora announced that she was going on hiatus. Now, her surprised fans want to know why the reason why.

Why is Subaru Oozora going on a hiatus?

Subaru Oozora informed fans she will take a streaming hiatus because she has been diagnosed with vocal cord nodules.

In an X post, Subaru Oozora told her fans that she had to go to the hospital to get checked. While there she was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules. This issue is caused if someone puts too much strain on their voice, usually by frequent singing.

The vtuber stated that she discussed the health issue with her manager and they concluded that she should take a break from streaming to fully recover. Subaru Oozora told her fans to not worry too much for her as she will rest and hopefully recover soon.

Unfortunately, throat issues like this one are common in the vtuber industry because of the stressful streaming durations and the toll taken on one’s voice by speaking or singing over extended periods of time in specific vocal pitches. Previously, fellow Hololive vtuber Iroha Kazma went on hiatus for similar reasons as Subaru Oozoa now is. Iroha developed throat problems and had to step away from streaming so that her throat could recover.

When will Subaru Oozora return to streaming?

In her announcement, Subaru Oozora stated she would return to streaming from her hiatus in approximately two weeks.

Subaru Oozora is taking a break from her streaming activities because of a health issue involving her voice, and there’s no definite timeline on its recovery. So how long her break lasts depends on how long it takes for her to recover. While she stated in her post that she would be gone for two weeks, the timeframe is likely not fixed.

The treatment for vocal cord nodules is for the person to stop overusing their voice. While Subaru is on her break she will be able to rest her voice and talk less often, so it’s possible the vtuber could recover quickly.

The Hololive vtuber wants to return as soon as possible for her fans, but recovery from such an issue can take time. Fans should rest assured that they’ll see Subaru Oozora on their screens as soon as she is better and her voice is fully recovered. Hopefully, the issue won’t crop up again for her in the future.
