Wildcard has officially announced that Counter-Strike veteran and star player Jake “Stewie2K” Yip has joined the team’s roster for the PGL Astana 2025 Closed Qualifier.
Stewie2K is an American Counter-Strike player and streamer who is infamous for his aggressive playing style. The legendary player came into the limelight when he helped Cloud9 win the ELEAGUE Boston Major in one of the game’s most memorable moments. That was a significant win for him as he became the first North American player to do so. He then went on to achieve many wins and became one of the most popular Counter-Strike players in the scene.
In 2022, Stewie2K announced he would step away from competitive CS and focus more on streaming content. In 2024, Stewie2K unexpectedly returned to competitive play and replaced Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen during the IEM Dallas for G2 Esports, showing solid if unspectacular form along the way. Stewie2K later announced his potential return to competitive CS2 and the player seems to have found a new team in Wildcard.
