StarLadder Budapest Major first matchups revealed

StarLadder has revealed the initial matchups for the Budapest Major Stage 1, which kicks off on November 24th.

FaZe Clan vs. Lynn Vision headlines the opening round. The former made the playoffs in the BLAST.tv Austin Major in June, while Lynn Vision were knocked out of Stage 3 with a 1-3 record after advancing in Stage 1 & 2.

But, we’ve got some other interesting matches such as Ninjas in Pyjamas vs. NRG and B8 vs. M80. These are all the StarLadder Budapest Major Stage 1 opening matchups:

• FaZe Clan vs. Lynn Vision
• NIP vs. NRG
• B8 vs. M80
• Legacy vs. FlyQuest
• GamerLegion vs. Fluxo
• Fnatic vs. RED Canids
• PARIVISION vs. The Huns
• Imperial vs. Rare Atom

The StarLadder Budapest Major Stage 1, like the other two group stages, will see the qualified teams battle through a big Swiss system format group.

They need three wins to advance to the next stage, or three losses to be eliminated from the tournament. The top eight teams from Stage 1 will advance to Stage 2, where Aurora, Liquid, Astralis, 3DMAX, TYLOO, MIBR, and Passion UA await.

Most of the matches in these Swiss groups are best-of-ones, as only advancement or elimination matches are best-of-threes. However, the good news is that the StarLadder Budapest Major will be the first Major ever to feature a BO5 grand final.

The StarLadder Budapest Major will be the final tier-one CS2 event in 2025. The event will see a total of 32 teams fighting for their share of the $1.25 million prize pool and to write their name in Counter-Strike history books.
