Splatoon 3 Direct unveils new maps and weapons

  • Splatoon 3 will include several new maps and weapons
  • The game will be supported for at least two years after launch
  • New Splatoon 3 amiibo are on the way

Nintendo recently released a Splatoon 3 Direct that unveiled several details about the upcoming third-person shooter ahead of its release on September 9.

The Direct also showed off some new Special Weapons, including the Tacticooler, which provides drinks for the team that boosts stats.

Elsewhere, the Wave Breaker unleashes sonic waves in an area, while the Reefslider is a float that will fly at enemies and explode, covering them with ink.

You can also expect new Main Weapons, including the Tri-Stringer. It’s a bow that can fire shots in three directions at the same time.

Splatoon 3 will introduce the Splatana Wiper, a weapon you swing to send blades of ink at your foes.

Alongside these weapons, there are also new maps. One of those revealed in the Direct is a pier called Hagglefish Market. At launch, Splatoon 3 will feature 12 stages, with more expected to arrive, for free, post-launch.

Likewise, a free in-game season catalog will get released every quarter over two years. These updates will also include weapons. Nintendo also plans to release a large-scale premium DLC, though details are scarce at present.

As well as details about Splatoon 3, the Direct also unveiled three amiibo figures. They are Inkling (Yellow), Octoling (Blue), and Smallfry.

These amiibo are expected to arrive later this year and cost $15.99.

Plenty of stuff to look forward to then for fans of the series. Earlier this year, Nintendo also unveiled a Splatoon 3 OLED, which looks pretty cool.
