While the home team of FURIA didn’t make it ot the IEM Rio 2026 Grand Final, we still have an exciting matchup on the cards with Danil “donk” Kryskovets’ Spirit taking on the world’s best squad, Vitality.
Can Spirit make this a competitive affair, or will Vitality prove to be too much to handle for yet another top team? We will get the answer very soon.

It’s actually wild how well Spirit are playing in the playoffs in Rio. They’ve been very underwhelming in 2026 up to this point, losing out against fellow contenders more often than not.
However, something is different at this event. While donk is playing great as usual, some of his teammates have stepped up on the big stage, namely Boris “magixx” Vorobiev and Andrey “tN1R” Tatarinovich, who is currently the best-performing Spirit player in the playoffs.
The Russian-speaking squad will need more of that and then some to have a chance against Vitality in the Grand Final, especially since it’s a best-of-five. Spirit’s map pool is far shallower than that of their opponents.
While by all metrics Vitality should have this game in the bag, Spirit still have donk, one of the best CS2 players. within their ranks. If they are to pose a threat to Vitality, he will need to be on his A-game come game time.

Despite their group stage hiccup against Falcons, Vitality look as good as ever. They’ve been flawless in the playoffs thus far, dispatching of NAVI and FURIA without dropping a map.
The deafening FURIA support from the Brazilian crowd didn’t affect them in the slightest, which is a good omen for the Grand Final, where they will probably be booed once again.
On the player side, there’s nothing new with Vitality. Every member of the roster is doing their job, with Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, Dan “apeX” Madesclaire, one of the best CS2 IGLs, shining brightest in their two playoff matches.
The French duo continues to make Counter-Strike history with every event they attend. This time could be no different, as a victory over Spirit in the Grand Final would secure their second ESL Grand Slam.

There are no surprises when it comes to the CS2 odds. Vitality are obviously the overwhelming favorites to lift the IEM Rio 2026trophy over Spirit.
Until someone bests Vitality in a similar setting, there’s no way anyone sane would bet against them. They’ve won every single event they attended since IEM Kraków 2026, and IEM Rio will be another one on their extensive list.
If Spirit manage to get even a single map, they should consider that a success. Let’s hope they continue building on this result and morph into a competitive rival for Vitality in the near future.
