CS2 juggernaut Team Spirit has announced that one of the organization’s longest-serving players, Boris “magixx” Vorobiev, has been benched and moved to the inactive roster and is to be replaced effective immediately.
magixx joined Team Spirit in 2019 and quickly became one of the most promising players in the organization. At just the age of 16, the rifler was an important element in the success of Spirit. He became famous for being able to adapt his playing style to the situation at hand. In 2023, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Myroslav “zont1x” Plakhotiawere were promoted from the Academy roster and helped magixx lead Spirit to greater success.
Despite magixx being an integral part of Spirit’s successes to date, the player couldn’t hold up against the scene’s leading talents of 2025, and fans began to question his performance and future with the side. On July 7, Spirit made it official by announcing that it was benching magixx and removing him from the team’s starting CS2 roster.
Team Spirit has benched magixx and replaced him with newcomer zweih, but magixx remains a part of Spirit’s inactive roster, at least for the time being.
In its tweet, Spirit thanked magixx and expressed gratitude for the player leading the side to multiple victories. Spirit stated that magixx joined the team as an inexperienced player but has grown over the years, and the tweet ended with the organization wishing magixx the best in his future in esports.
In another tweet, Spirit announced Ivan “zweih” Gogin has been signed by the team to replace magixx, bringing on a new star player who impressed viewers with his performance at BLAST Austin Major. zweih fits the role of the benched magixx, and his stellar performance proves that he can hold his own at the heighest levels of play.
zweih is a young player at just 17 years of age, only slightly older than magixx was when he first joined Spirit. Management at Team Spirit will hope that zweih’s form he showed while playing with Nemiga Gaming can be replicated on an even bigger stage with Spirit.

magixx joined Spirit in 2019 but showcased his talent with the team at PGL Major Antwerp 2022. Spirit failed to win at the Major, but magixx helped the team to reach the top four. He also gave tough competition to FaZe, the team that was ultimately crowned champion at the Major.
magixx displayed his talent again in 2024 at the Perfect World Shanghai Major. The player is credited as the driving force that helped Spirit secure its first-ever Major win in Shanghai. Despite magixx’s talent and skills, his performance has been inconsistent after that Major trophy success. Spirit has fallen short and been unable to defeat top teams following its dominant peak, with many blaming magixx along the way. The team may be shaking up its roster to get past this dry patch and reclaim its spot as a successful CS2 organization at the game’s highest pro level.
