Korea Post will create commemorative stamps with the image of Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok. These Faker stamps will come out this October.
The post administration of South Korea creates new commemorative stamps every couple of weeks. The Faker ones are set to come out in October, though Korea Post gives a public comment period. Until the April 25, people will be able to submit objections and concerns regarding this choice.
Commemorative stamps showcase the likes of landscapes and other sights, animals, historic or political figures, or representations of major events. It is the first time that the chosen picture is that of an esports player, marking a new milestone in the integration of this field into mainstream culture.
Today marks the 13-year anniversary of Faker’s debut game in the OGN Spring 2013 (now LCK). On the April 6, 2013, SKT T1’s mid laner immediately made his name known by surprising Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong with an early solo kill.
13 years later, Faker is now a six-time World champion and the face of League of Legends. In fact, he also has a long list of skins in the game. In South Korea though, his influence spreads out of the Rift and grows bigger each year.
In 2025, Faker was invited to speak with the country’s Prime Minister. Last month, he was on the cover of the Fortune Korea magazine. The legend is one of the most famous personalities in South Korea.
Now, the post administration is etching Faker as a symbol alongside the likes of the president or highly consequential scientists and lawmakers.
