SK Gaming’s JNX tests positive for COVID-19

  • SK Gaming’s top laner, Janik “JNX” Bartels, has tested positive for COVID-19
  • The team will play its games remotely from its training facility
  • The organization is monitoring other players and staff who were recently in JNX’s proximity

Bad news for SK Gaming’s League of Legends European Championship (LEC) roster: their top laner, Janik “JNX” Bartels, has tested positive for COVID-19 before the start of Week 2. Consequently, the entire team will play remotely, and the organization will monitor the situation for any other positive cases.

SK Gaming break the news of JNX’s COVID-19 infection via Twitter.

To avoid exposing the LEC crowd and production crew, SK will play its games from the training facilities. As players and staff were likely exposed to the virus, safety has rightfully taken priority.

The breakthrough case could throw SK Gaming’s Week 2 plans in disarray. As they have started the LEC summer season 1-2, they would need as many wins as possible to remain within playoff contention.

However, JNX remains in high spirits as signs point out that his Covid-19 case is mild.

SK Gaming will play Astralis on Day 1 and Misfits Gaming on Day 2. If they score victories, they will position themselves in a favorable position for a tough race towards a playoff spot.
