Valorant content creator and pro player Jay “sinatraa” Won has spoken out on sexual assault allegations leveled against him in 2021, explaining his “side of things” for one “last time.”
sinatraa was moved to Sentinels’ bench following sexual and emotional abuse allegations from his ex-girlfriend Cleo “cle0h” Hernandez in 2021. Her allegations against him included an audio clip of the two during intercourse, with her saying that she no longer wants to have sex while sinatraa insists on continuing the act. sinatraa claimed that he had an extended version of the audio clip that exonerated him of the accusations but never produced it. Riot Games ultimately suspended him from VCT action due to his inability or unwillingness to produce that evidence.
After sinatraa’s ban, he dipped under the radar for six months. However, in April 2022, sinatraa announced his intent to return to competition. But, that didn’t happen. The pro player has since focused on streaming with occasional participation in low-tier tournaments. More than three years later, Sinatraa has once again addressed the 2021 allegations, but according to him, this is the last time he’ll talk about it.
Sinatraa announced his potential exit from X, formerly Twitter, while speaking out about 2021 allegations that resulted in his esports suspension.
Taking to X, the pro player alleged that Alex Francois, former head of esports at Riot, had made up his mind to suspend him before the investigation even began. He referred to a meme Francois had liked when likes on X were still publicly visible.
The streamer further claimed that he had complied with the investigation and that the discrepancies arose because he failed to provide the clip he initially said he would in response to Cleoh’s audio clip. According to Sinatraa, he deleted the video shortly after breaking up with Hernandez. He also mentioned that a misunderstanding between him and his current girlfriend of four years led Riot to believe he was lying during the investigation.
According to sinatraa, whatever happened between him and Hernandez was consensual, and he “would never do something evil like that.” This is despite Hernandez producing an audio clip of a sexual encounter with sinatraa where he seemingly commits sexual acts against her explicit wishes. sinatraa has acknowledged that the clip is real.
“To my fans/people who support me, I genuinely hope from the bottom of my heart that my situation doesn’t make you think that every accusation is false. There is real evil in the world, a ton of it, and evil needs to be held accountable, especially nowadays,” sinatraa said.
The two were in a relationship for an extended period, during which Cleoh accused Sinatraa of being sexually demanding, pressuring her into intercourse against her will, and engaging in acts she had not consented to. She also states that he manipulated her with false accusations of infidelity.
Sinatraa has been away from the pro scene for more than two years but regularly streams on Twitch to his 1.5 million followers. While his esports return now seems more unlikely than ever, he remains active in the streaming community.
