Sentinels and DRX will meet on the big stage in the Masters Bangkok 2025 tournament’s opening round. Although Sentinels is the favorite to win, smart betters may wonder if fan-favorite team DRX has upset potential.
Organized by developer Riot Games, Masters Bangkok 2025 is slated to start with a bang. Featuring elite eight pro teams and a prize of $250,000 on the line for the winner, the tournament follows the Swiss System format, which means any team that accrues two series losses is eliminated. On the other hand, teams that reach two series wins advance to the playoffs.
Sentinels and DRX will face off in the second match of round 1. Sentinels has had mixed showings to date, making it to Masters Bangkok by a small margin thanks to its performance in the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff tournament. On the other hand, DRX is coming off of a hot winning streak.
Despite its recent performances, DRX is the underdog going into the game, even if it’s by a small margin. While both teams are fairly strong, DRX can create an upset by winning the upcoming match, as is evidenced by the close odds.
While both teams have only participated in one tournament since the start of 2025, with Masters Bangkok 2025 being their second, and DRX has showcased exceptional performance. The team went undefeated throughout the VCT 2025: Pacific Kickoff, not losing a single match. By contrast, while Sentinels achieved second place in the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff, it had only a 60% win rate in the tournament.
Below are the rosters for both teams in the upcoming match.
Sentinels
DRX
DRX’s most common agent composition is Breach, Omen, Cypher, Sova, and Jett, though that’s unlikely to be the exact team they use against Sentinels. While every player from the team tends to switch around their agents, the two recent constants are freeing’s Tejo and HYUNMIN’s Jett and Raze duelist combo. The third-best player going by recent statistics is MaKo, who plays controller agents such as Omen, Brimstone, and Astra.
Sentinels is more diverse with its agent pool, opting to switch things around based on current needs and preferences. Fans can expect to see picks like zekken’s Yoru and Johnqt’s Sova and Tejo in the upcoming match.
Sentinels and DRX have gone against each other twice in the past. The first time was during the VCT 2023 OFF SEASON – AfreecaTV Valorant League where Sentinels won 2-0. The second time was in the VCT 2024 tournament where DRX lost by the same 0-2 score. This will mark their third official match, though much has changed since the last time DRX lost.
Both DRX and Sentinels are fairly close when it comes to betting odds probability. Sentinels is the narrow favorite to win the upcoming game at 1.80 compared to DRX’s 1.90. The close odds despite the two team’s head-to-head records showcase DRX’s recent improvements. They also mean that either team can take the match.
While the odds are against DRX, the team has a better recent record and overall performance of late than Sentinels. Recently winning against teams like T1, Nongshim RedForce, and Gen.G, DRX has displayed excellent team coordination and individual ability. That doesn’t mean Sentinels will go down easily, especially since DRX lost at least one game in almost every recent match it has played. Sentinels may have had an at-times rocky showing in the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff event, but the team’s second-place ranking can’t be ignored in a crowded field of competitors.
Much of the match will depend on whether Sentinels can shut down HYUNMIN’s aggressive duelist plays. DRX’s recent decision to pick Tejo instead of an agent like KAY/O means the team is primarily without flashes. Capitalizing on this by holding tight angles and stopping DRX from taking space may be Sentinel’s best shot at winning.
In attacking rounds, this also means zekken can make risky plays with mobile duelists like Yoru and Raze to win at least one game. But DRX’s ability to adapt, as showcased in its recent game against T1 in the VCT 2025: Pacific Kickoffs, suggests siding with the Korean team may be a smart betting pick, particularly when DRX offers slightly more advantageous odds for bettors.
