Sentinels and KRÜ Esports are slated to meet on the big stage during the VCT 2025: Americas group stage. With Sentinels being the favorite to win, does the opposition have any chance of creating an upset in the upcoming match?
After a disappointing couple of matches during the recent Masters Bangkok tournament, Sentinels returned to the VCT 2025: Americas stage with lowered expectations from fans. However, the team managed to deliver an excellent first performance, winning with a final score of 2-1 against 100 Thieves.
The team will now face off against KRÜ Esports in the second week of the VCT 2025: Americas group stage. With a strong 2025 and an even stronger potential to learn from its mistakes, the looming question in the upcoming match is whether KRÜ Esports can defeat Sentinels just as it did LOUD previously.
The departure of TenZ and Sacy may have left a hole in the Sentinels roster, but the addition of N4RRATE and bang has already filled it, as seen in the match against 100 Thieves. In particular, Zellsis played an excellent Vyse in the first game and an even better Viper in the third. Pair that with the fact that zekken played an excellent entry duelist with johnqt’s ever-present Tejo utilities there to support him, and KRÜ Esports may be in for a tough task.
On the other hand, KRÜ Esports is coming into the match with a disadvantage. Placing fourth in the VCT Kickoff compared to Sentinels’ second, the Argentine team had a weak 2024 and has showcased inconsistency in 2025. While KRÜ has excellent adaptability and strong players like keznitdeuS, it can’t be ignored how the team lost with a score of 3-13 in its first game against LOUD. Even if KRÜ returned the favor in the second game.
The team’s duelist keznitdeuS played excellently, supported by Mazino, Melser, and Shyy. adverso left much to be desired despite playing Tejo, though the player had more of an impact in the third game. KRÜ Esports’ biggest strength, however, is the keznitdeuS combo with Mazino and Melser, and polishing that to perfection may give the team a better chance against Sentinels.

Sentinels tend to stick with a handful of agents fans can expect to see. The most likely is Tejo, who johnqt has played a lot since the agent’s release. The one game the team lost against 100 Thieves was when johnqt picked Sova instead. Yoru is also almost guaranteed, considering the duelist seems to be zekken’s recent favorite agent. Other picks include Raze, Cypher, Vyse, Omen, and Astra.
On the other hand. KRÜ Esports’ agent roster has been relatively mixed. Agents like Raze, Jett, Tejo, and Brimstone will likely be seen. Fans can perhaps expect Omen, Viper, Brimstone, and Vyse, though these agents can just as easily be replaced by other picks.
Sentinels and KRÜ Esports have met on the big stage twice and Sentinels has won both times. The score was 2-0 in both matches, with KRU not yet having taken a single game from Sentinels.
Sentinels is the favorite to win the upcoming match, but not by much. The team’s line of 1.55 compared to KRÜ’s 2.30 makes it clear that Sentinels is the favorite, though far from a heavy one.
Sentinels emerged victorious the two times it faced off against KRÜ Esports, and most signs suggest the same may happen again in the upcoming match. The biggest factor to consider is that Sentinels has an excellent sentinel in the form of Zellsis. LOUD made the odd decision to not pick a sentinel in its third and decisive losing game against KRÜ, but the same will likely not happen in this match.
Considering how impactful Tejo is in the current meta, johnqt utilizes the agent’s utilities better than does KRÜ’s adverso. While KRÜ has good attacking capabilities to combat Sentinel’s defense, the team will likely fall short in the defense department, something Sentinels has in spades in large part thanks to zekken’s aggressive plays. This could potentially tilt the scales to give Sentinels the advantage in the upcoming match.
