The popular streaming platform Twitch has added new rules that clarify what vtubers can and can’t do on the platform.
There has been much uproar among the vtuber community about Twitch being against vtubers. Allegations were even made that creators were getting “unfair” bans or not being given the reason for bans. This led to vtubers demanding that Twitch make their rules fair for the vtuber community. In addition, even the CEO of Twitch weighed in and said he’ll have his team look into the issues faced by the virtual streamers. Now, the platform is adding a new set of rules that could help or hinder vtubers. This will ensure that streamers know whether their content is breaking a rule.
The new Twitch rules include many things vtubers can look into to avoid future bans.
The new rules state that child-like vtuber models with sexual framing aren’t allowed on Twitch.
Many vtubers have been complaining about randomly getting banned and not being given a reason. This has vtubers upset. After all, if they don’t know the reason for the ban, it’s impossible to avoid getting banned on Twitch.
However, the new Twitch rules enforcement notes highlight exactly what the platform restricts for vtubers. One of the most common things that can get a vtuber in trouble is their model. Twitch’s rules now state that vtubers with child-like models can’t be sexualized.
Getting new models will cost some vtubers money. However, at least Twitch is now ensuring that vtubers know how to avoid getting banned. Twitch takes inappropriate sexual behavior seriously so it isn’t surprising that this is one of the new rules they have set for vtubers.
Twitch’s new rule clarifications state that vtubers must wear realistic clothes at all times while on stream to avoid getting bans or suspensions.
Vtuber models being animated and not real humans had many people assumed there would be leeway in the content they could get away with. However, Twitch’s new rules state that vtuber models must follow the same rules as other streamers for attire.
This means that the vtuber models need to have their “genitalia, buttocks, hips, underbust, and female-presented nipples” covered at all times. Vtubers that don’t meet the criteria of Twitch’s new rules will need to commission new outfits for their characters. This may mean taking a hiatus while waiting, but it is better than being banned.
