The developers of hit drug-dealing-sim, Schedule 1, has announced the opening of a full game studio as the success of the unorthodox game continues. TVGS, originally a one-man team, headed by game developer Tyler, will now operate with multiple developers.
TVGS announced on Tuesday (Jan. 6) that the studio had moved into an office in Sydney, Australia, and hired a new developer. The studio is also on the lookout for a 3D/technical artist, with the aim to expand their team to four people by the end of the year.
Announced by a post on their official Steam page, the expansion of Schedule 1’s studio comes after a year of unprecedented success. Launched in March 2025, after releasing a demo in December 2024, Schedule 1 quickly became one of the most popular games on Steam. The game surged to almost half a million players, and still maintains a healthy average of 27,000 players per day at the time of writing.
Most recently expanding the gameplay with a Mushroom update, a fan-voted addition to the game, Schedule 1 is likely to continue to expand over the next few months and years.
In addition to the notice that the studio was expanding, lead developer Tyler also laid out the early 2026 plan:
“We’re going to release a patch next week focussed on bug fixing and QoL improvements. After that, the remainder of January is being dedicated to cleaning up the codebase and onboarding Rob (poor guy needs to catch up on 120k+ lines of code). This will be the final round of major refactoring and will leave the game in a strong position for future development. It’s also a vital step towards proper mod support.
After that’s done, we’ll get to work on the next update, which we will leave as a surprise. I’m estimating it will be done in late February, but I’ve (finally) learnt my lesson from all of the delayed updates, and we’ll only confirm a date once we’re confident we’ll hit it on time.”
In December, TVGS unveiled its line of Schedule 1 YouTooz figures, the first merchandise for the game.
Schedule 1’s remarkable success (a solo-dev game reaching almost half a million players) comes after a year of similar stories from seamless and simple multiplayer games. In 2025, titles like PEAK, RV There Yet, R.E.P.O. and, of course, Schedule 1, showed that a simple but compelling art style with an effective gameplay loop could entice players. Now, in 2026, we’ll find out if those same titles have staying power.
