Gamer, be aware that as of yesterday, this is a lawless land, and God of War: Ragnarok spoilers are already out there in the wilderness. That’s because a US retailer sold it ten days before its official release and now almost the entire title is on the internet.
Moments after the information reached the ears of developers, including Santa Monica Studio director Cory Barlog, the company published a statement on Twitter.
The studio stated that it is important “to preserve the experience of God of War Ragnarök for players who want to enjoy the game for the first time without spoilers.” The developers also asked fans to be “considerate” of their peers who don’t want to accidentally see clips regarding the new game.
“We ask that you please be considerate of the many fans who do not want to accidentally see clips, gameplay, or narrative spoilers and avoid sharing them wider. We are doing our best to limit the exposure of unsanctioned footage and screenshots, but the reality is that we cannot catch everything”, said the company.
Sata Monica Studio also “strongly advised” that players mute any keywords or hashtags associated with the game until release day.
In a post published on Twitter, Cory Barlog showed dissatisfaction with God of War Ragnarok spoilers released on various websites and social media. According to the company, the tactic for saving yourself from the leaks is: to do it if you can. Mainly, you know… staying off social media.
