Survival crafting shooter Rust is now the most-streamed game on KICK after the launch of its new drops feature.
The watch-reward system was launched on Nov. 13 after being announced 10 days prior. Promoted by streamer xQc live at DreamHack Atlanta, and then supported by numerous partners across KICK, the Rust Drops system ensured Rust has been the top game on the platform for the past week.
As per Streams Charts, Rust became the most watched game on KICK, surpassing ARC Raiders, GTA V, and League of Legends over a seven day period. The category even broke past Slots & Casino and IRL, two of the biggest segments on KICK.
This propelled RUST from a title with less than 3k viewers on average on the platform, to one with between 80,000 and 240,000. The title peaked at 246,470 viewers, and as per KICK co-founder Trainwrecks, over 2,000,000 drops were claimed in the first four days of the event.
The success shows the power of user engagement on streaming and watching platforms. Companies are increasingly realising that rewarding players for choosing to spend their leisure time on their platform can yield great results. Twitch has had a drops system for years, and even the likes of Discord have rolled out similar ideas.
However, the success of the drops feature isn’t the only reason Rust made headlines in the past 24 hours. Earlier today (Nov. 18), Rust developer Facepunch Studios employee Alistair McFarlane pointed out that the latest Delta Force cinematic had used assets from Rust developers.

The matter was reportedly quickly resolved, with Delta Force dev Team Jade reportedly reaching out and apologizing. And, perhaps the next Delta Force update will see some collaboration with Rust, as McFarlane hinted at:
“hopefully next time we see a Rust Hazmat in their next season.”
Facepunch has clearly realised the value of getting their game in front of gamers eyes is often better than potentially creating a schism between two gaming communities. And their collaboration with KICK shows they’re no strangers to making moves to partner for good of both parties.
