Pervasive gaming platform Roblox has disabled millions of games on its Creator Hub, effectively deleting them from the platform, citing child safety concerns. Players and creators discovered that the start of spooky season (Oct. 1) had given them the ultimate trick and no treat as millions of their favorite Roblox games had disappeared.
According to a statement by Roblox, these games are not ‘deleted’ but instead disabled, and can re-enabled by filling out a “Maturity and Compliance” questionnaire. However, issues arise from the fact that literally thousands of ‘abandoned’ games with now absent developers have been hit with these issues.
Roblox is perhaps best known for its incredible output of user-created games. A ready-made platform for developers, Roblox Creator Hub games have previously gone viral and attracted huge attention. Recreations of the Squid Game Netflix series, the 2025 viral hit Grow a Garden, as well as titles like Brookhaven RP and Jailbreak, are just a few of the Roblox titles that have attracted huge player bases.

However, many of these titles are under threat after Roblox has been forced to apply standardized rating to its game to protect children. However, these systems relied on Roblox’s own internal rating system, something few games adopted due to either their age, or the fact they could attract more users without them. That’s where the new wave of disabled games and questionnaires comes in.
Much of the concern from creators comes from the potential visibility of their games if they apply mature tags to their game. Roblox games are often monetized, and creators can earn huge amounts by creating and selling content for their games. Properly tagged for mature content and age ratings, a games userbase is.

From a players perspective, this might mean losing access to games you previously did. And perhaps more worrying would be the thousands of games that no longer have developer support. These won’t be able to go through the new verification system, and as such could be disabled forever. Roblox has stated it will step into to prevent these “classics” from being lost, but that’s likely a time consuming process.
As a result, players will have to contend with just not having access to many of their favorite Roblox games for the time being. The battle for child safety in Roblox is going to have some casualties and, unfortunately, some players favorite games may be on the chopping block.
