Fans are in for a treat as Valorant has officially announced when its much-anticipated replay system will be added to the game and fans will be able to watch their matches back to learn from them and improve.
Many prominent online competitive games, including Riot’s own League of Legends, have replay features so that gamers can learn from their mistakes. This feature was never added in Valorant and after many requests from its community, the developers had formally announced that it’s under development. No timeframe was given on when it’ll be rolled out and in 2024 fans were given a sneak peek of the feature.
The first look at the replay feature caused excitement within the community, but many wondered when they’d see it added to the live game. This was because Riot needed to iron out bugs before unveiling the much-awaited feature. In a tweet, Riots’s Studio Head Anna Donlon announced when the feature will be added to Valorant. She also discussed some other changes in Valorant’s upcoming patch.
Anna Donlon states that players will be able to use the new replay system in Valorant from September 2025.
The first look of Valorant’s replay system was unveiled approximately one year ago and it had some obvious bugs at the time. There were some visual glitches and the replay failed to show smoke drops at the right time. The developers have addressed the bugs and claimed that Valorant’s real-time mechanics were causing the issues. This was also the reason given for the development of the feature being so slow as some necessary code was apparently being rewritten.
Anna’s announcement hints at the replay system’s development reaching a stage where Riot is confident that it’ll be able to launch soon. She joked that fans can ask to receive a replay system for the last few times now as they’ll soon see it live in Valorant come September. This is great news as players have been waiting for the system for a long time, and now will finally be able to rewatch matches with a control bar that can rewind, change the POV, and perform other such functions.
Anna Donlon also announced that Riot Games has decided to nerf Tejo because he is considered overpowered and it’s difficult to effectively counter him.
Fan opinions on whether Tejo is overpowered or not has been divided. Some claim the agent is fine while others want Riot to nerf him hard. It looks like Riot agrees with the latter crownd as the developer has decided to make changes to the initiator agent.
Anna said Tejo’s rockets are too powerful, so some fuel will be taken out of them. This will make the agent similar to other initiators in power level and easier to counter. She also informed fans that a video will be shared highlighting the changes being made to Tejo. The initiator agent’s changes will come into effect in Valorant’s patch 10.09.
