The Valorant Masters Bangkok grand final revealed new agent 28, Waylay, complete with her abilities and release date.
One of the biggest appeals of a competitive shooter with unique playable characters like Valorant is how many new characters and unique kits developer Riot Games can add to it. The last agent to join the playable character roster was Tejo, who quickly became a staple in the competitive scene with his must-use abilities.
Now, Riot Games has revealed the next character joining the game, a Thai duelist named Waylay. With her creative abilities and huge potential for unique strategies, it’s only natural that fans will want to know everything about her utilities and when they’ll get to play as her in the game.
Waylay will launch in Valorant on March 5, just three days after her reveal came during the Valorant Masters Bangkok 2025 grand final.
Waylay will come to the game with the release of Valorant Season 2025 Act 2. Being the second agent to come to the game this year, Waylay’s acquisition method will likely be identical to Tejo’s.
Players will initially have three options to unlock new agent Waylay. The first is to use 1,000 VP to instantly unlock her, while the second is earning 20,000 XP by playing games and completing daily or weekly quests to complete her agent requirement event. Finally, those with an active Game Pass subscription can link their Microsoft and Riot accounts to unlock every agent in Valorant, including Waylay.
After the event is over, players will be able to purchase Waylay from the in-game agent store with 8,000 Kingdom Credits like any other agent.
Waylay’s official reveal showcases her as a creative duelist agent who’s inspired by the abilities of existing playable characters like Jett and Raze.
Like other characters, Waylay has three core abilities:
Waylay’s unique hinder effect isn’t only extended to her Saturate ability. Her ultimate, Convergent Paths, shoots a beam of light that expands to cover a sizeable area. After a brief delay, Waylay gets a speed boost while players in the light are hindered. This includes enemies and allies alike.
While most duelists rely on initiator agents before going into the site, Waylay’s unique abilities, especially her ultimate ability, give her some initiating potential. Coupled with her Refract ability, players can go into a site and get out unharmed to gather information or get valuable frags. It remains to be seen whether Waylay becomes a powerhouse necessity in competitive Valorant play similar to Tejo.
