Fortnite has been around for almost a decade now. Throughout the years, the game evolved a lot and has become a massive success. A big part of it comes from its plethora of third-party licence deals that add unique skins to the game.
Right now, Fortnite has over 2000 skins, many of which include character cosmetics inspired by popular games, movies, anime, and other mainstream IPs. Due to the licensing duration or some other clause, some of these skins become almost impossible to acquire in the game after a limited period, making them quite rare in any lobby.
Below we have shared some of the rarest skins in Fortnite right now. Check out to see how many of them you have seen in your games or, by the off chance, already own. With new Fortnite seasons coming out periodically, this list will be updated if rarer skins come out.

Wingman Fortnite Skin. Image source: Epic Games
This Kiteman-looking skin first dropped in August 2018 with the Wingman Starter Pack for $4.99. If you are a fan of combat pilots, then this skin could have been a choice for you. Visually, the skin features a red and black flight suit, a full helmet, and goggles.
After a brief period of its debut, the Wingman flew off the store and hasn’t made a return to this day.

Kratos Skin Fortnite. Image source: Epic Games
The God of War icon was first introduced in Fortnite, back in December 2020, as part of the Gaming Legends Series. The skin obviously lets the player change their avatar appearance into the highly popular protagonist of Sony’s flagship franchise, Kratos. On its debut, the skin was priced at 1,500 V-Bucks.
The skin last appeared in 2021. Ever since then, Sony or Epic hasn’t shown any interest in bringing it back. However, the upcoming Amazon Prime show may make them change their mind.
Back in 2018, if you had bought your Nintendo Switch with the Fortnite Bundle, you would have gotten a DLC code that let you redeem 1000 V-bucks and this exclusive skin, Double Helix.
The bundle is no longer available new from retailers. This limited-time special bundle makes this skin one of the rarest skins today.

Rogue Agent Fortnite Skin. Image source: Epic Games
One of the OG skins of the game, Rogue Agent, appeared way back in Chapter 1, Season 3. The skin was available in the store for 77 days straight. Unlike other skins, Rogue Agent could have only been purchased through real money instead of V-Bucks.
The skin was part of the Rogue Agent starter pack, priced at $4.99 on release, and today it is almost impossible to acquire.

Sofia Fortnite Skin. Image source: Epic Games
Sofia was a part of the John Wick collaboration in June 2019. The skin was inspired by Halle Berry’s character with the same name in the movie. On release, the skin was priced at 1,500 V-Bucks.
The skin was last available in the shop on March 25, 2021, making it one of the longest missing collab skins in the game.

Honor Guard Fortnite Skin. Image source: Epic Games
Seeing this skin in any game is a very, very rare sight. Honor Guard was never available in the store. The only way one could have gotten this skin was by buying the Honor View20 smartphone back in 2018.
The phone was priced around $600 on release, making the skin one of the most expensive cosmetics in the game.

Astro Jack Fortnite Skin. Image source: Epic Games
Part of the Travis Scott collab back in Chapter 2, Season 2, the Astro Jack was the cosmic counterpart of Travis Scott. Back in 2020, you could have purchased this skin for 2,000 V-Bucks or got it through the bundle.
The skin was last available back on April 27, 2020, and, looking at the fact that Epic has no plans to renew its collaboration with Travis Scott, it won’t be too far-fetched to believe that Astro Jack is never coming back.

Galaxy Skin Fortnite. Image source: Epic Games
Just like Honor Guard, Galaxy could also be acquired only by purchasing one of the two specific smartphones. If in 2018, you had bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 or Tab S4, you would receive a redeem code to get the skin in the game.
The phones cost $650–$1,250 on release, so naturally, the majority of Fortnite players didn’t find it worth it.

Rue Fortnite Skin. Image source: Epic Games
Rue was first available in Chapter 2, Season 2 as part of the Lil’ Red set. Back in 2020, the set was priced at 1200 V-Bucks. Ever since its release, the skin was only available in two shop rotations, the last available in May 2020.
Therefore, this makes it almost impossible to spot this skin in the game now.

TRAVIS SCOTT Fortnite Skin. Image source: Epic Games
This skin is the rarest Icon Series skin in the game. The Travis Scott skin first made its debut back in 2020 for 1,500 V-Bucks ahead of Fortnite’s most successful event, the Astronomical Concert. Despite the popularity and success of the event, the skin only appeared in six shop rotations.
The skin was last available on April 27, 2020, making it one of the rarest shop-based skins in the game.
