When it comes to watching esports competitions like the PUBG Mobile Pro League (PMPL), two ways come to mind.
The first one is live at the venue where the event is being held. The second option – and the more popular one – is through live streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube.
Now, PUBG Mobile esports fans in Pakistan are in for a treat as Tencent has unlocked another way for them to tune into the action.
The official PUBG Mobile Esports Pakistan Instagram account announced yesterday that the PMPL will be shown on the big screen at a theater in Lahore.
The cinema screening for the PMPL South Asia Championship is set to take place on Oct. 14, 2022, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM (local time). It will happen at the Cue Cinema in Lahore, Pakistan.
Besides watching the PUBG Mobile action, all the people who attend will get PUBG Mobile merchandise and a drink for free.
Attending the PUBG Mobile esports screening in the theater isn’t just as simple as purchasing a ticket, though.
To gain entry, you need to win a ticket. This can be done by commenting on the Instagram post which announced the cinema screening.
Tencent hasn’t revealed how many tickets are up for grabs.
While this is a historical moment for esports in Pakistan, this isn’t the first time the game will be grazing the big screens.
Last year, Indian esports organization Nodwin Gaming signed a partnership with local movie theater company PVR for PUBG Mobile’s Indian version, BGMI.
As a part of this, several PVR Cinemas across India held BGMI esports tournaments in the theater. Additionally, the matches were even shown on the big screen.
The PMPL South Asia Championship is set to take place from October 13-16. Sixteen of the region’s best teams will be competing for the title and a share of the $150,000 prize pool.
Additionally, three slots in the Global Championship (PMGC) 2022 will be up for grabs.
The PMGC 2022 is set to be the pinnacle of PUBG Mobile esports this year. It will begin in late November with its league stage. This will be followed by the LAN grand finals in Indonesia in January 2023.
The PMGC 2022 has a total prize pool of $4 million.
