The hype train for Pokémon Z-A is underway. The game will be available to play worldwide from October 16th. Recently, the Pokémon Company announced a new Mega Evolution for the Pokémon Malmar. In a recent post on their YouTube channel, Pokémon announced the new Mega form of Malamar. Let’s take a look at all the details of the latest Mega Evolution of Malamar in Pokémon Legends Z-A.
Until now, the Pokémon Company has announced three new Mega Evolutions. These include the likes of Dragonite. Victreebel and Hawlucha. The design for all 3 Mega Evolutions, especially Hawlucha, has been widely appreciated by the Pokémon Community. Malamar is the second Pokémon from the Kalos region to receive a new Mega form.
Malamar is the final evolution of the Pokémon Inkay. This Pokémon is a Dark and Psychic type with a unique ability called Contrary. If the Pokémon receives any stat drops, its stats would increase. For example, if Malmar’s speed were reduced by half due to an opponent Pokémon’s move, it would instead have its speed doubled. This ability was famously given to Serperior as its hidden ability. Its Mega Evolution has an interesting take on the Pokémon’s design. Its brain enlarges in size while the rest of its body becomes quite sleek.
One can see its Psychic powers flowing all over its body, emitting quite a bright glow. These lights amplify the Pokémon’s hypnotic abilities. Thus allowing it to alter a person’s personality and even memories. To evolve Malamar from Inkay, players needed to keep their gaming console upside down once it reached level 30. The Mega Evolution of Malamar will have a total base stat total of 582. This is so as all Pokémon after mega evolution receive an increase of 100 stats to their total stats. In the video by the Pokémon Company, we can see Mega Malamar face off against Charizard and Dragonite. After a few attacks, we can see him hypnotize the Dragonite and defeat it. Following this, after disagreeing with his trainer, Malamar hypnotizes him as well. It must be noted that there is a high possibility that we will see Mega Malamar be a part of Pokémon Champions. The first season of Pokémon Champions focused on Mega Evolution.
Hawlucha becomes the second Pokémon from Kalos to receive a new mega form. Previously, we saw the Kalos flying and fighting-type Pokémon Hawlucha receive a new Mega form. Currently, the Pokémon will retain its typing form from its original form. Pokémon Legends Z-A is slated to release worldwide on Nintendo Switch and Switch two on October 16.
Recently, Pokémon Unite announced the launch of two new Mega Pokémon in the game in October.
