Despite its controversies, this year’s Esports World Cup is rolling in full blast and attracting many eyes worldwide. Some of the top teams are competing here for a chance to win, and the favorites among them are Paper Rex and Fnatic, two teams that have consistently shown strong performances of late on the international stage. These two teams will now duke it out in the semifinals.
Betting tip: While the match will likely be fairly close, Paper Rex’s more balanced team may edge out the win if the team can dominate the pistol rounds.
Paper Rex is in the best form the team has seen in a while. From comfortably winning the Masters Toronto to going undefeated in the Esports World Cup so far, it’s no surprise that Paper Rex is the favorite to win the whole event. Much of the team’s success comes from the fact that it just doesn’t have any weak links. Unlike teams like Sentinels and even Fnatic, every player in PRX has what it takes to stand among the best.
Every team has an ace, and it wouldn’t be farfetched to say that f0rsakeN is one of the most versatile professional Valorant players. The player has recently played every role and even managed to make his presence felt in every game. Jingg and PatMen are both impressive, and something is the perfect duelist for the team. Paper Rex absolutely dominated Sentinels in the last match, though Fnatic may not be as easy to beat.

Fnatic’s kaajak is one of the best duelists in the scene currently. His entries are excellent, and he consistently finds valuable frags to ensure his team has a better chance of winning. Chronicle and Alfajer do very well to support the player with utilities and cover fire, and that formula has seemed to be working well in this tournament. Boaster sometimes leaves much to be desired, but he usually plays his role as an IGL well enough.
Unfortunately for Fnatic, the team’s weakness is clearly the mental strength of its players. Boaster, in particular, has a bad habit of getting trigger-happy when the team is backed into a corner. This causes him to take unnecessary fights that he has a lower chance of winning, pulling his other teammates into the fights and eventually losing valuable rounds. Not rectifying this error may result in a repeat of the recent Masters Toronto grand final.

Paper Rex and Fnatic are the two favorites to win the Esports World Cup, but Paper Rex has been more impressive of late. Fnatic’s Boaster occasionally lets the team down, and PPX’s biggest advantage is that the entire team is consistently on the same playing field. While Fnatic may get one game here, Paper Rex will likely comfortably win the other two games, eliminating Fnatic from the tournament.
Our Paper Rex vs Fnatic pick: Paper Rex as the match winner 2-1 at 1.69 odds at GG.BET.
