Paper Rex have once again proven why they are the lower-bracket demons after taking down Global Esports 3-0 to make it to the final of VCT Pacific Stage 1.
Going into this match against Paper Rex, Global Esports weren’t the favorites to win. This comes even after the team defeated PRX in the previous match between these two teams.
A major factor was that Global Esports was playing a best-of-five series for the first time in VCT Pacific. On the other hand, Paper Rex has played in multiple best-of-five series since 2023, having won most of them. It was clear from the start that Paper Rex was planning to get revenge on Global Esports.
Talking about facing off against Global Esports, Paper Rex’s Jinggg had this to say:
Honestly, we couldn’t prep that much for this game because we had to first defeat T1. If we did not, then we would face either Global Esports or Full Sense. Last night, after we won, we got back to the hotel, just spoke a bit, and we decided to play our style and have fun.
We had a really good read on how they want to play, and we played well together as a team.
In this series, f0rsakeN just played Omen, a rare sight for many, but was in top-notch form. In the final map of Ascent, Global Esports started strong with a 6-0 lead.
Following this, we saw Paper Rex win six rounds in a row with f0rsakeN getting 14 kills. The map ended with a scoreline of 13-11 with f0rsakeN having 27 kills to his name.
With this loss, Global Esports has been eliminated from VCT Pacific Stage 1. They will next play in the Swiss Stage of VALORANT Masters London as the third seed of VCT Pacific.
Paper Rex will now face off against Full Sense on May 17 in the grand final of VCT Pacific Stage 1.
