Some PUBG players think Panzers and BRDMs are massively overpowered and shouldn’t be present in the game, especially in PUBG esports tournaments. But do those players have a point, or are they just venting frustration?
PUBG is one of the most popular battle royale games on the market with the objective of remaining the last man or team standing. Players do a variety of things to accomplish this objective, ranging from devising strategies on the fly to getting their hands on new weapons as they explore the game’s new map. And while players appreciate hackers being banned, there’s also interest in banning some tools from the game. The Panzerfaust and BRDM are two of the most powerful weapons and vehicles in the game, respectively, and are arguably too strong. But what’s the argument behind that position?
Panzers and BRDMs do have strengths that can lead to gameplay that feels unfair, so banning them in competitive play may be a valid option even if both remain in the base game.
The BRDM doesn’t require a high skill level to use, but it allows players to survive in otherwise impossible scenarios. The vehicle is too much like a tank and can easily take big hits without breaking down. It makes the game unfair at times, as the vehicle essentially lets players survive almost any obstacle.
The argument against banning BRDMs is that while the armored vehicle does make it easier to survive, it doesn’t guarantee a win. Not taking hits from snipers or being able to freely move into ambushes are real advantages, but some players feel that they’re not worth banning the vehicle over.

The Panzerfaust is an anti-tank rocket launcher that doesn’t require much skill to use. Players can easily use it to take down vehicles or quickly wipe out opponents. The weapon almost guarantees that it’ll swiftly and effectively take down its target when launch in the right direction. It does come with a drawback, as there is only one shot available. But a Panzer can completely change a round if used correctly, and that’s why many want to ban it from competitive matches.
The weapon is a little volatile and can lead to friendly fire when teammates are involved. Precision isn’t an important element of Panzers, as the weapon is designed to quickly and effectively blow things up. But that’s its only real drawback besides its single-shot nature, and that’s not a concern for solo players.
Both Panzers and BRDMs can lead to an unfair advantage due to players either being able to survive otherwise impossible situations, or dealing the sort of immediate and devastating damage that doesn’t allow for counterplay. Even if both are kept in the game because developers are too busy looking for celebrities to partner with, the two likely should be banned from competitive play, as they disrupt the nuance that makes pro play entertaining for fans and players alike.
