Baptiste, Cassidy, Mei

Overwatch 2, while providing a polished in-game experience, has been plagued by server issues early on. When you and your friends finally get past the queue, you’re greeted with a message that says “player is on a different version of Overwatch.”

Thankfully, there’s a relatively easy fix for this – no need to restart your game and get back in line for the servers.

The steps to fix the different version of Overwatch error is simple:

  • Navigate to the “chat” section in the bottom right
  • Type “/invite”
  • type in the desired gamertag or Battlenet username
  • Send the invite!

There you go! Making it through the devastating queue only to see this error can be extremely frustrating. Luckily, there’s an easy fix for it.
