Is Adblock even possible for Twitch? Yes, but it will take some work.
One of the worst parts of modern media is how integrated ads have become a part of content, even Twitch streams. Many viewers find themselves enraptured in a stream only to have the content disrupted by unwanted ads, often destroying the vibes. It doesn’t help Twitch announced there will be more ads in the future, with even higher sub prices. For many, these ads are the final straw in catching streams live. If anything, it just makes it more enticing to just wait for clippers.
However, for those who still want the live Twitch experience, there’s a clever way to use Adblock on the site entirely.
Twitch fans can still use Adblock on stream modifying the uBlock Origin browser extension.
Avid internet users love uBlock Origin for its straightforward function of blocking unwanted ads. However, uBlock Origin does not natively block Twitch ads automatically. With a bit of tinkering, however, it can be done.
These are the steps to block Twitch ads on Firefox. Some names or icons may be changed depending on your browser.
As a heads-up, the stream’s quality will dip during segments where an ad was supposed to play but got blocked instead. The quality should return to normal once the nonexistent ad’s duration ends. Note that this method will require users to still disable the actual Adblock extension while watching Twitch.
The only other feasible alternative to avoid ads on Twitch is simply buying a subscription for your favorite streamer. Since subscriptions are not financially feasible for everybody, this method should work great for those on a budget.
