Two-time TI-winning Dota 2 organization OG has announced the release of its entire starting roster. The organization revealed it would be dramatically shaking up its line-up, parting ways with all five starting roster players, on Oct. 29.
The organization thanked the players and assured fans that “this isn’t the end of the road for us in Dota 2 however – stay tuned.”
The dramatic removal of its entire roster marks the end of a forgettable era for OG esports. The 2024-2025 season saw four rosters come and go, with none able to achieve more than middling success.
In September, the organization was acquired by blockchain provider Chiliz Group, who obtained a 51% controlling stake of the team.

Then, earlier this month, both Dota 2 rosters the organization had fielded had shakeups. Early in the month, founder and TI-winner Johan “N0tail” Sundstein joined the roster, replacing Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos. A few days later, the organization announced it would be releasing its South American roster, OG.LATAM.
OG, formerly a top-rung Dota 2 org has struggled to return to its winning ways in recent years. The team was founded as a player-led and run org, and achieved notable success at TI8 and TI9, as well as a fairy tail victory at the ESL One Stockholm Major in 2022, and a surprise victory at ESL One Malaysia the same year. Since then, though, trophy and podium real-estate has been limited. This new inactivity likely means a period of rebuilding and introspection is on the way for the team.
Most recently, OG finished in the 9-12th position of DreamLeague Division 2 Season 1, concluding the tournament shy of prize money or qualification for DreamLeague Season 27. The organization currently has no active invites to upcoming tournaments, and has failed to qualify for both BLAST Slam V and PGL Wallachia Season 6.
