According to a report from Richard Lewis with Dexerto, Ninjas in Pyjamas are in a financial dispute regarding sticker money with both current and former players.
According to Lewis’ sources, the dispute arose when the ESL Rio Major got canceled in early 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
Sources close to former Ninja Tim “nawwk” Jonasson state that he and several other players believe to have a contractual right to a share of the RMR 2020 capsule.
The report states that the players have a contractual right to 83.33% of the income earned through sticker sales.
The organization, however, argues that these don’t fall under the regular ‘sticker’ clause, as they were a measure from Valve to help teams survive the COVID pandemic.
nawwk is reported to be considering legal steps.
It is not the first time that controversy arises regarding NIP and financial disputes with their players.
In 2019, former player Robin “Fifflaren” Johansson accused the team of withholding sticker payments to the players in 2015.
