The teaser and title for Valorant map 11 Abyss have been leaked online, pointing at a new lore-heavy location featuring a bottomless pit.
Most Valorant maps are deeply rooted in the game’s lore. For example, Lotus takes us back to Harbor’s homeland, and Pearl shows us the other side of the coin where the good guys are popular as villains. Now, it seems that the next map may focus on Omen’s backstory and maybe even his connection with Iso.
Leakers have discovered art and title for the 11th Valorant map. It’s reportedly called Abyss and is likely set in the middle of a populated metropolis.
While the new Valorant map’s name Abyss does not offer much to glean, the leaked poster is packed with clues. The busy backdrop features tall buildings and a bustling city, even though it’s nighttime. This could mean a serious change of scenery compared to the current map pool.
It appears that the next Valorant map may have some sort of dangerous pit that could result in instant death if players fall into it. It could potentially introduce a new gimmick as well, something that Riot has avoided in recent map releases. The name does point towards a pit, but this was also previously teased in a leaked player card.
Back in March, a leaked card showed an agent falling from a tomb-like building. The recent poster revealed by ValorantLeaksEN looks like the same card but with a closer view of the moments before the fall.
The roof’s edge is the exact same as the tomb in the older card. Omen, a former member of the Hourglass organization, is shown grappling with a masked man bearing the Hourglass symbol. This is the same mysterious organization that had once tasked Iso with assassinating Omen. The leaked details suggest that the next new Valorant map could provide crucial insights into both Iso and Omen’s lore.
Valorant map 11 Abyss doesn’t have an official release date, but it will most likely appear in Valorant Episode 9, Act 1, on June 25, 2024.
Fans can get their first stare into Abyss at Valorant Masters Shanghai on June 9, where it will likely be formally revealed in a show match. The dev teams like to give fans a surprise look at maps before they go live, making the show match a perfect opportunity. If the leaks are all correct, Valorant fans will finally get a chance to knock each other into a giant hole in the ground. Just be careful with those satchel charges, Raze mains.
