PGL Astana’s group stage is bringing some interesting, novel matchups with NaVi vs M80 being one of the most interesting.
There’s an interesting set of teams competing at PGL Astana. With Team Vitality, MOUZ, Team Falcons, the new FaZe Clan, and other notable teams bowing out of the tournament, some fresh faces are getting a chance to shine. North American squad M80 is one of them, but they’re not getting pitched any softballs.
NaVi is set to greet them, but are there any good betting opportunities in what is seemingly a big mismatch? Surprisingly, yes.
Natus Vincere and M80 will face off in a first-round group stage match in PGL Astana. The match is a best-of-three that will take place on May 10, 2025. Teams that can win three of five matches in the group stage advance to the playoffs.
NaVi started the year strong with a top-four finish in IEM Katowice 2025, but had earlier exits from ESL Pro League Season 21, BLAST Open Spring, and IEM Melbourne. The team is still competitive at a high level, but has consistently run into Team Spirit.
The team’s full roster will be competing in PGL Astana:
NaVi has a losing record on Anubis, Nuke, and Dust 2 in 2025, albeit with a limited number of games on Nuke and Anubis. On the flipside, it’s been quite strong on Mirage and has a winning record on Inferno and Ancient.
M80 has primarily played in online tournaments in 2025, largely because it hasn’t performed well in prominent LAN tournaments. The team fizzled in the group stage of ESL Pro League Season 21 and made an early exit from BLAST Open Spring. Its best successes have been in North American qualifiers, getting the better of the likes of Wildcard and NRG.
The M80 roster has been together since July 2024:
M80 has been at its best on Ancient, going 11-3 in 2025 and winning maps against the likes of The MongolZ. It has winning records on most maps, albeit against generally weak competition. The team has a 2-4 record on Train thus far and consistently bans Nuke.
NaVi and M80 have not yet played against each other at any point in Counter-Strike history. M80 has been around since 2023, but hasn’t yet crossed paths with Aleksib and company.
NaVi is a sizable favorite against M80, with the moneylines standing at 1.25 against 3.91. This is actually a bit of a moral victory for M80, as similarly skewed matches have more exaggerated odds. Still, it’s clear who is expected to win.
NaVi will almost certainly take a clean win over M80. The North American squad can be competitive, but have largely flopped against top-10 competition. The team can potentially get a map win, but that’s it.
