Despite not actually winning many tournaments, it has been able to reliably reach the playoffs in Counter-Strike’s biggest tournaments. This has extended to the players too, with each one performing at about the same level throughout the year.
That’s changed slightly, only slightly, in the last couple of months though. Rather than just making the playoffs, the team placed in the top four of three of its four most recent tournaments. At the individual level, star AWPer Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold has been out-performing his usual self.

Given how strong The MongolZ has looked throughout the year, there’s reason to believe that the team is set to hit another level, going from a solid top-10 team to a more legitimate top-five candidate. That’s bad news for NaVi.
NaVi made its first roster change in some time after the major, adding Drin “makazze” Shaqiri from its developmental roster. While there was reason to question how he would perform, he has looked generally solid so far despite playing against some tough competition. Still, this new NaVi is visibly a work in progress. The MongolZ is operating at a high level right now, and that doesn’t afford much wiggle room for NaVi to find its footing.
