The BLAST Open Spring 2025 group stages are coming to a close but there are a few particularly fun matches left; with The MongolZ vs G2 Esports being foremost among them.
There has been some high-stakes Counter-Strike action in BLAST Open Spring, but it doesn’t get much higher than what’s happening next. The lower bracket finals will be played on March 24, with four teams fighting for the last two spots in the playoffs.
The MongolZ and G2 Esports are fighting for their lives right now, but how should bettors approach this match?
The MongolZ and G2 Esports will play on March 24, 2025 in a best-of-three match to decide the final entrant to BLAST Open Spring 2025’s playoffs. The winner of the match advances to the semifinals, where they will face the loser of Team Vitality vs MOUZ.
The MongolZ has looked about as good as fans can reasonably expect in BLAST Open Spring. The team started with a win over M80, but took a hard-fought loss to NaVi in the second round. They rebounded with gusto by beating Team Liquid in convincing fashion.
The roster of The MongolZ
The MongolZ is tough to beat on all maps, except for Nuke. It has a winning record on every other map, but is particularly strong on Inferno and Anubis.
G2 Esports started BLAST Open Spring 2025 strong, taking a clean win over Imperial Esports. Things went awry from there as the team lost to Eternal Fire, but it rebounded in the lower bracket with a win over M80. That win advanced G2 to the lower bracket finals, where it will need to defeat The MongolZ to reach the playoffs.
G2’s Counter-Strike 2 roster currently includes these players:
To this point in 2025, with its current roster, G2 has been doing well on Inferno and Dust 2 while under-performing on Ancient and Anubis. Meanwhile, the team is 50-50 on Mirage and Nuke.
The MongolZ and G2 Esports have played each other four times to this point in CS2 history. The MongolZ has won three of those matchups. Their last showdown came very recently, during the ESL Pro League Season 21 group stage. The MongolZ won the match 2-1.
The MongolZ is a modest favorite to win this match in the BLAST Open Spring group stage finals. The moneylines stand at 1.68 against 2.17. This is a pretty competitive line, though it does indicate that The MongolZ is the decided favorite.
The MongolZ is likely to get the win and advance to the BLAST Open Spring playoffs. This isn’t a guarantee, as G2 Esports is a tough out for almost every team, but The MongolZ should be up to the task of beating them.
