Minato Aqua just announced her graduation from Hololive, shocking fans of the popular Vtuber.
Hololive is one of the top agencies in the vtuber industry, with many of its talents boasting millions of subscribers. Despite the agency’s success, it’s no stranger to less fortunate circumstances. Hololive has seen its fair share of talents graduate and leave the group, with their reasons ranging from personal health issues to contract breaches. However, one talent that fans never expected to graduate anytime soon was Minato Aqua. She debuted as part of Hololive Japan’s second generation of talents. Fans loved Aqua for her bumbling personality, surprising gamer skills, and relatable shyness. Aqua was still releasing songs in 2024 and even got an updated model.
However, Aqua has now revealed that her time with Hololive has ended.
Minato Aqua’s graduation from Hololive will be on August 28, 2024.
In a short livestream, Aqua informed her fans that she would graduate at the end of August 2024. She cited “disagreements with the direction of the company” as one of the reasons for her graduation. The idol requested that fans not speculate on the reasons behind her graduation, as it was ultimately a mutual split between her and the company.
Aqua and Cover have confirmed that she has big plans for her graduation month. She’s still “full speed” on her streams and plans for the month, and it will all culminate on August 28. Cover confirmed Aqua will have a graduation concert, final merch sales, a program on the Hololive official channel, and features with her fellow talents.
Cover will announce exact dates for the various events as the month progresses. Meanwhile, fans can send letters until September 6, 2024. Her channel and memberships will likely be archived like those of every other talent that has graduated from Hololive. The company will continue to support Aqua in her endeavors until the day of her graduation.
Fans across social media mourned the graduation and promised to support the Aqua until the very end. Others joked that they thought Hololive was safe from graduation since July had passed. In previous years, talents such as Kiryu Coco and Tsukumo Sana graduated in the “cursed” month.
In the meantime, fans count the days until they say goodbye to Aqua Minato.
