In a surprising turn of events, Matara Kan has shocked her fans worldwide by announcing her graduation from the popular vtuber agency Vshojo.
Matara Kan is one of the best-known vtubers in the industry and has been streaming content since 2014. At the beginning of her career, she wasn’t streaming under the pseudonym Matara Kan, instead going by the name Monkeyism, but she later changed her name after joining Nijisanji.
The content creator then went on to graduate from Nijisanji in 2023 and joined Vshojo, where she has been streaming under the pseudonym Matara Kan. On April 28, Matara Kan tweeted the news of her graduation from VShojo and announced her future plans.
Matara Kan has stated that she’ll continue streaming and creating content even after her exit from the vtuber agency VShojo.
VShojo issued a statement announcing that the agency is indeed parting ways with Matara Kan and that the decision was made only after serious consideration. The agency wished Matara the best in the future and expressed appreciation for all that she had already done for VShojo over the years. The statement ended with the request for fans to respect the privacy and feelings of all parties involved.
Matara Kan issued her own response regarding the graduation, saying that VShojo had decided to part ways with her on March 6 and that she’ll be leaving the agency on May 5. The vtuber thanked all the VShojo vtubers for the great time they had together over the last 18 months and wished them all the best in the future.
Matara also stated that she’d continue streaming as Matara Kan as she will remain Matara Kan even after leaving VShojo. She didn’t offer fans any insight on why she was leaving the agency, but the way Matara worded her tweet led many fans to believe that the agency had terminated her contract.
The vtuber posted on Discord requesting fans not speculate about the contract situation and claimed she couldn’t talk about more than she had already shared in her tweet because of a confidentiality agreement. Matara expressed that she understood not knowing will annoy some fans, but that was just how it had to be.
While the vtuber has refused to give details about exactly why she’s exited the agency, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. Some think it may have something to do with a contract dispute as the 18-month mark aligns with a contract renewal period.
