Marvel Rivals may go down as 2024’s hottest hero shooter with a generous roster of top superheroes from Marvel Comics and Xbox gamers are lucky enough to get in on the action.
Marvel Rivals’ official release is just around the corner, and fans have tons of questions, many of which the developer has been answering promptly. Earlier, NetEase shared its full monetization plan for Marvel Rivals, something that has convinced even non-fans to preload the game. With an affordable battle pass for Season 0 and an easy way to earn in-game currency, Marvel Rivals is surely setting high standards for rival shooters.
But are all these perks limited to PC players? Here’s what we know about the Marvel Rivals platforms.
Yes, Marvel Rivals is playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and MacOS.
The great news is that players on PC will be able to preload the game and instantly jump into the multiverse of madness on December 6. However, console players will not be as lucky. Preload is not available on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, which means fans will have to wait until the official launch to download the game. In a Q&A session, the developers confirmed that “console players could only download and play the game on December 6.”
Xbox gamers who wish to play Marvel Rivals can do so directly by downloading the game directly through the Xbox Store. Marvel Rivals is free-to-play, but will have paid microtransactions similar to other competitive games.
Depending on internet speed, the download can take from hours to a whole day since Marvel Rivals Xbox download size is 44.56 GB.
The base version of the game will include the entire free roster of 33 heroes, two game modes, and other in-game content. While this is a long wait, players will be rewarded with a rich gameplay experience.
Once Xbox players have downloaded the game, they can queue up with their friends who preloaded the game on PC and have a better grasp of the gameplay to bring them up to speed. Marvel Rivals supports crossplay across all devices. This means that gamers can freely play with, and against, anyone they want.
The 44.56 GB file size at launch is workable for all Xbox gamers. Though it’s hardly a small download, it’s nothing compared to games like Fortnite and Call of Duty, which bloated in size past the 100 GB mark.
