Deadpool joined the Marvel Rivals roster in season 6. The chaotic hero has since defined the meta in the game, thanks to his all-around abilities. The master of unpredictability, Deadpool’s character arc has been very well translated in Marvel Rivals as he is the one and only multi-role hero in the game.
The jack of all trades can be utilised as a Duelist, Vanguard, and a strategist effectively, and can even outperform the masters of specific roles with its unique list of mechanics and status effects. We have simplified the madness that Deadpool brings to the table in this comprehensive Marvel Rivals Deadpool guide.
Deadpool’s Strengths and Weaknesses
Deadpool has unmatched adaptability. Deadpool’s combat style allows it to be used both as a melee and a ranged attacker. Thanks to the XP-oriented upgrade system, the longer the fight goes, the stronger Deadpool gets. With the correct combo of ultimates and upgrades, high skill cap players can seize advantage and overwhelm opponents in extended team fights.

But Deadpool has a ‘problem of plenty’. With so many mechanics and kits, even a slight misuse of the wrong ability or Ultimate can be the difference between a ‘Win’ or ‘Loss’. Deadpool is one of the slow starters and not very effective in early-game battles. He needs the progression upgrades and not ‘Ult Charge’ like other heroes. Not to mention the Cooldown time is also pretty long at 45 seconds. Deadpool might get overpowered by the role specialist heroes, depending on the game situation. He requires a lot of anticipation, the ability to read fights and enemy counters, even before they are spammed.
Deadpool’s Core Mechanics
Before diving into the role-specific abilities and the best ways to use them, here are the constants, which form Deadpool’s core mechanics.
- Ability Upgrade System: You can upgrade Deadpool’s abilities by earning XP during the match. The higher the upgrade, the better the effects and style generation.
- Style meter:
You need to fill up the style meter of Deadpool to hit the Ultimate. For this, you need to keep Deadpool alive in the battle, all while dealing damage and landing hits on enemies. The longer he stays the stronger he gets.
- Passive abilities:
Deadpool can self-heal when not in combat, so you need to use him wisely and know when to disengage. Like Wolverine, Deadpool can also get himself a second life when he’s almost dead.
Deadpool Vanguard Tactics

Deadpool, as a tank, is to be used differently than the traditional barrier-based Vanguards, who have high HP. Deadpool works better as a disruptive tank who engages and disengages from battle in between to stay alive using his passive healing ability. It’s best to swap to Vanguard Deadpool when the enemy is running the dive-heavy line-up.
- Magical Unicorn:
Use it to blind the enemy healers and isolate them from their Vanguards. This shield bubble blocks damage and ability effects on your allies. The shield can cut off healing between the enemy’s tanks and healers.
- Taunt Logic:
This puts Deadpool’s guns in automatic mode. Using it close to enemies is even more rewarding as the ones in the taunt radius cannot track their HP, ability cooldowns and Ult meters as it messes up their vision.
- Hazardous Hijinks:
This is the best for close-range fights and cancelling enemy ults.
- Bunny Bounce:
Jumping off Enemies deals damage and helps to reposition during fights. Use it to control crowd.
- Sword Ultimate:
This can make Deadpool nearly immortal as it boosts his healing, speed and bonus HP.
Duelist Tactics

Deadpool, as a duelist, gets squishy but deals serious damage. The best way to use him is in bursts so that he remains alive longer. Use him as a duelist to create chaos or break the defence of enemies with unlimited dashes.
- Upgraded Hazardous Hijinks:
If you successfully land 2-3 hits, the dash cap disappears, and you can use it to deal continuous Area Damage.
- Taunt:
Boosted versions of it drain enemy HP and reduce damage taken by Deadpool, and need to be used during coordinated fights.
- Boomerang:
Great for team fights as Deadpool can throw his avatar 3 times back to back with the final throw resulting in an explosion. This is great to finish the low HP escaping enemies.
- Final Exam:
This ability boosts team healing as the enemy lands more hits. It needs to be used strategically in coordinated fights.
- Gun Ultimate:
Try to dodge the enemy abilities, this will provide both healing and shielding effects and close down enemies with added damage.

Strategist Tactics

Deadpool, as a healer, is tankier than most other Marvel Rivals Strategists. He has 350 HP so he can be used a bit aggressively while engaging in combat. Swap to the strategist Deadpool if your team lacks enough healing.
- Dual Desert Eagles: This ability tests your mechanical skills as it needs solid hits to heal the allies. The more accurate you are, the better the healing proportions.
- Healing Hijinks:
Landing a fair sword hit on the enemy gets nearby allies healed, which is handy while close range combats.
- Healing Hop:
Try to jump to the head of your allies to give them instant burst of healing. It is great for repositioning as well.
Best Team Combo for Deadpool
It’s best to utilise the versatility of Deadpool and use him in a role that fits the team’s balance rather than trying to mould the team comp according to him. At the same time, Deadpool is one aggressive hero in Marvel Rivals so others with a similar trait would be the best fit. Example:
- Vanguard:
Deadpool can compliment almost any tank in the game with his good balance of dive and sustain abilities.
- Duelists:
As you will be mostly focusing on diving the backline, Daredevil, Psylocke, or Black Panther can be good choices.
- Strategists:
Deadpool’s healing is often not enough to sustain a team under heavy fire, so running him as the 3rd healer with damage focused healers like Adam and Mantis works well.
