Marvel Rivals Season 0 launches with a genre-characteristic battle pass, complete with some epic tier rewards for those who can complete it.
Marvel Rivals is one of the most anticipated games of 2024. Comparable to Overwatch, the game is a free-to-play 6v6 hero shooter featuring some of the most well-known comic book superheroes to date. The developer team recently released its monetization guide promising that only extraneous cosmetics will cost real dollars. Some are wondering how this will affect the promised battle pass system and if they should expect exorbitant Overwatch-level pricing.
Here’s what potential players should know about Marvel Rivals’ battle pass and what they can get from it.
The Marvel Rivals battle pass system will have tracks and tokens for unlocking items plus a permanent premium pass.
Upon launch, Marvel Rivals will have two tracks for paid and free. The luxury track costs 490 lattices in Season 0, or 980 lattices in the first full season. In real-world terms, the pass comes out to $5 or $10 USD, respectively.
One of the most highly anticipated aspects of the Marvel Rival luxury battle pass is that it doesn’t expire. Once purchased and unlocked, players have access to the pass until they complete it. For many, this makes the already relatively low cost even more worth it. Unfortunately, the free battle pass remains on a timer as of now.
Additionally, much like the new Fortnite system and other games, Marvel Rivals allows players to exchange tokens called Chrono tokens for cosmetics. These tokens are earned through completing in-game tasks and challenges and let players pick and choose which items they want to unlock.
Though the game isn’t live yet, fans have gotten a sneak peek at some of the outfits and cosmetics available in Marvel Rivals’ Season 0 battle pass.
The luxury battle pass contains five costumes and related cosmetics, including one legendary outfit. Meanwhile, the free pass contains one outfit of epic quality. Developers have clarified that the number of rewards will double in future seasons as the length also increases. Some of the leaked and officially announced costumes include the following.
The Season 0 battle pass, entitled Chronovium, goes live along with Season 0 on December 6. Players have the option of pre-loading the game onto the PS5, Xbox Series, or PC as early as December 4 to maximize their Chrono token earnings.
