Fans of Marvel have been on quite a joyride for the past couple of years. After becoming a dominant force in the cinema scene, Marvel has figured out the video game formula.
2018 brought PlayStation gamers, and eventually PC gamers, the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man. A sequel is on its way sometime next year.
A Wolverine game was announced last year. Last week’s Disney showcase brought the reveal of Amy Hennig’s Marvel title.
The future is looking bright, and it’s only going to get better. Today brought the announcement that an Iron Man game is in the works.
However, it’s not from who you’d expect.
The announcement of the upcoming Iron Man title comes from EA themselves. Marvel and Motive Studio are teaming up to bring gamers an “all-new” game.
There’s no trailer or anything fancy, but the announcement does bring plenty of juicy information.
This project is being headed by Olivier Proulx, who worked on last year’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game. For those who missed it, stop reading and go play it.
It’s incredible.
Per the announcement:
“Developed in collaboration with Marvel Games, the game will feature an original narrative that taps into the rich history of Iron Man, channeling the complexity, charisma, and creative genius of Tony Stark, and enabling players to feel what it’s like to truly play as Iron Man.”
As mentioned Motive Studio is behind this project. The team has previously worked on Star Wars: Squadron and will deliver the Dead Space Remake coming in Jan. 2023.
The game will be a third-person, single-player adventure. It’s currently in the pre-production stage which means we probably won’t hear anything for quite some time.
Interestingly enough, that’s not the only detail the announcement brought. The final sentences of the reveal bring this little interesting snippet:
“This is an exciting new collaboration between Marvel and Electronic Arts, with Iron Man being the first of several new games.”
With EA changing its tone on single-player titles this could be an incredible venture. Perhaps the publisher is actually working on the rumored Black Panther game?
Who knows, but it’s time to suit up. We’re one step closer to getting the Anthem game we deserve.
