M80 has acquired Beastcoast, here’s every transfer

M80 just acquired Beastcoast, and fans want to know which teams will transfer.

Beastcoast is one of the most established esports organizations for Dota 2. Ever since its 2017 debut, it boasted one of the most remarkably consistent rosters in the scene. The team was a mainstay of the Tier 1 and Tier 2 scene of Dota 2. Many fans saw them as “gatekeepers” to the higher echelons of competitive play.

Despite its longevity, Beastcoast struggled in 2024. Despite a fresh roster in January 2024, Beastcoast saw multiple members leave the organization. These exits left the organization out of the major tournaments of 2024.  In December 2024, up-and-coming esports organization M80 announced its acquisition of Beastcoast.

What is M80?

M80 is an international gaming and esports company established in 2022 with a focus on competitive esports. Before the acquisition of Beastcoast, most gamers will likely have heard of M80 from the CS2 scene. The organization boasts multiple impressive wins in the B-tier ESL Challenger tournaments. They also placed among the S-tier competitors in the ESL Pro League and Esports World Cup in 2024.

“M80 and Beastcoast have a lot of mutual respect for the communities we’ve built – and now we’re ready to take it to the next level,” stated M80 founder Marco Mereu.  The CEO openly talked about their plans to expand to new esports titles.

In addition to DOTA 2, the organization plans to participate in Pokemon esports. It also hopes to reach fans in regions like South America, where esports is quickly gaining support.  Former Beastcoast CEO Grant Zinn will now serve as Chief Business Development Officer for M80, ensuring the transition is smooth.

Who transferred from Beastcoast to M80?

M80 has confirmed the Pokemon and Dota 2 teams will now be under the M80 banner. The announcement primarily focused on Pokemon and Dota 2, signaling M80’s primary interests. It did not specify the fate of its Super Smash Bros, Teamfight Tactics, and Guilty Gear teams.

M80 did not retain Beastcoast’s Rainbow Six Siege roster. Cloud9 had acquired the roster in June 2024, but the team disbanded after the M80 acquisition. Although M80 has advertised Valorant among its supported games, it has yet to replace its recently disbanded roster.

Given how fresh the announcement is, only time will tell if this change of scenery will ignite some competitive fire in the transferred rosters.
