According to Dust2 Brazil and other industry insiders, one of the legendary Counter-Strike teams from North America, Luminosity Gaming, is planning to make a comeback.
Known for dominating the MLG Columbus Major in 2016, Luminosity Gaming is reportedly in advanced negotiations to sign notable international talents like Lucas “lux” Meneghini.
Everyone who remembers Luminosity mostly does it because of their legendary Brazilian lineup, which is often dubbed the best of the country’s esports talent.
However, according to the sources, the team is planning to build a fully international roster to stand a better chance in the increasingly globalized Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene.
With their plans of rebuilding their lineup, one of their first and most important targets is Lux. Ever since he was benched by Legacy back in February, Lux has become a hot commodity in the esports market.
Despite his team having a disappointing finish in IEM Kraków, Lux was successful in securing his individual value thanks to a successful 2025 campaign where he led Legacy to a victory at the CS Asia Championships.
According to reports, Luminosity is looking to appoint Lux for a leadership role for their new squad, and his main focus would be to help the organization make its way in the VRS grind.
Luminosity has been absent from the pro CS scene since 2019, when their last Brazilian roster disbanded. While the organization was still active in games like Rocket League and Apex Legends, it missed the rep of their CS glory days.
Although the rest of the squad is yet to be officialized, and the Lux deal has to be finalized, if things work out as the reports suggest, the CS esports scene will finally get back one of its most iconic names.
