Team Liquid and Legacy advance to CAC 2025 playoffs; GamerLegion and The Huns are sent home

Team Liquid and Legacy were the first teams to lock in a spot in the CS Asia Championships (CAC 2025) playoffs as the first day of the tournament concluded. Meanwhile, GamerLegion and The Huns have exited the tournament following back-to-back losses.

The first day of CAC 2025 saw all 16 CS2 teams play their first match, which was a best-of-one series, and then a set of teams played advancement and elimination matches next, which were best-of-threes.

Liquid, who are playing just their second tournament after replacing Russell “Twistzz” Van Dulken with Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, looked far more consistent today. They moved past GamerLegion (13-9 on Inferno) and MIBR (13-5 on Mirage and 13-5 on Nuke) with ease.

Not only did Liquid play better as a team, but Guy “NertZ” Iluz showed his best CS in a while. The Israeli star has struggled this year, but today he top-fragged against both GamerLegion and 3DMAX.

EliGE, in particular, is happy that Liquid won despite the fatigue caused by travel to China.

2-0 over MIBR and we have made our first arena with the squad! Happy with how we played even being fatigued from a long day.

As for Legacy, they’ve reached a historic milestone today, as they secured playoffs in an international LAN for the first time. The Brazilian team impressed everyone at the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 as they beat Vitality in a best-of-one, but have failed to replicate that form until CAC 2025.

Legacy ran over Virtus.pro (13-2 on Mirage) on their opening match, and proceed to take down 3DMAX (13-6 on Dust2, 8-13 on Nuke, and 13-7 on Inferno) en route to the playoffs. The French team recently played at the ESL Pro League Season 22 playoffs, but were not good enough for Legacy today.

Legacy and Liquid will face one another on Thursday, October 16, to decide who advance directly to the semifinals of CAC 2025.

GamerLegion and The Huns become the first casualties of CAC 2025

While the elimination of GamerLegion may be shocking to some, this is actually the third time this season that they have bombed out in last place.

After losing to Liquid in the opener, GamerLegion were reverse-swept by Lynn Vision, one of the home teams at CAC 2025. Things spiraled out of control after their 13-5 win on Overpass, and Lynn Vision won Train (13-8) and Inferno (13-9) thanks to Junjie “EmiliaQAQ” Tang’s firepower.

And, at last, The Huns’ elimination is far from surprising, considering they were the worst seed. The Mongolian team were absolutely dominated by 3DMAX (13-1) on Nuke, and left the competition without winning a single map, as Virtus.pro won comfortably by 2-0 (13-6 on Inferno and 13-10 on Dust2).
