Following the conclusion of the 2022 LEC summer split, the playoffs are set to begin, and the excitement is through the roof before the LEC Playoffs.
G2 have dominated the league once again, as they snatched first place in the regular split, and MAD’s rebirth makes us believe in another era for the lions.
Surprisingly, Rogue missed finishing first in the regular split, but that could be a good sign for their LEC playoff hopes.
With the 0-4 start to the split, Misfits surprised us as they finished in the top-4, qualifying for the upper bracket of the LEC Playoffs. To do so, they defeated Fnatic in a tiebreaker. Trust me, nobody even thought of this scenario at the beginning of the split.
The Superteams were a bit of a disappointment.
Fnatic did make it to the playoffs with some insane Superweek performance. However, they will be starting from the lower bracket in the playoffs. Don’t worry Fnatic fans, your organization loves miracle runs, and it could be 2021 summer all over again.
Vitality, on the other hand, failed miserably. The organization would have made playoffs in 94.6% of the scenarios prior to the Superweek, but they got the short stick.
Everything was against them and even their own performances. Unfortunately for Perkz, this will be the first time he will miss the LEC Playoffs & Worlds in his career.
The LEC 2022 Summer playoffs will begin on August 26 and end on September 11.
In the upper bracket, G2 Esports (1st
seed) chose Misfits Gaming (4th
seed) as their playoff opponent. In the other match, Rogue(3rd
seed) and MAD Lions(4th
seed) will clash on the rift for a potential Worlds qualification.
If somehow Misfits Gaming beats G2 Esports, the loser of the game between Rogue and MAD Lions will be thrown to the Lower Bracket against the winner of Fnatic and Excel Esports. That would put them one BO5 away from Worlds qualification.
However, if G2 Esports wins against Misfits, both Rogue and MAD Lions will automatically qualify for Worlds. Don’t forget that the LEC has four spots for Worlds 2022.
Just like Summer 2021, Fnatic’s journey begins in the Lower Bracket of the LEC playoffs, where they will be facing Excel Esports. Both teams have experienced a lot of problems this split but Fnatic comes as a favorite in this battle, even though they did lose both of their games against XL this split.
Despite that, the teams seem to perform well under pressure, and this is as high as it can get.
Due to starting in the Lower Bracket, the loser of the match will be eliminated.
Here is the full schedule for the LEC playoffs 2022:
Round 1: August 26,27,28
Round 2 & 3: September 2,3,4
Semifinals & Finals: September 10 & 11
After three years without a live event, the #crowdbuff will be returning. The 2022 LEC Summer finals will be held in Malmö, at the
Malmö Arena.
Tickets for the LEC Playoffs are already sold out and the expectations for the event are high.
The last time an LEC event was held was in Athens during the 2019 Summer Finals which feels like ages ago.
Malmö Arena is the second-largest indoor arena in Sweden and the home of the ice hockey club Malmö Redhawks. It is also a multi-purpose arena, hosting multiple events and sports events.
More than 10 000 people are expected to be screaming in the arena, as according to the website, it has the capacity of 12 600 people for sports and 15 500 for concerts.
We are set for one amazing adventure for the 2022 LEC summer finals.
